Do you ever feel like you’re holding everything together, yet still feel anxious, stuck, or disconnected—from others or even from yourself? Perhaps you’re tired of repeating the same patterns in relationships, struggling with self-doubt, or feeling weighed down by expectations. On the outside, you might appear fine, but inside, you feel drained and unsure how to move forward. It doesn’t have to stay this way. Therapy provides a safe space to slow down, explore what’s happening beneath the surface, and begin creating the changes you’ve been longing for. I work with clients using talk therapy, Somatic Experiencing (SE) and EMDR.

This is also a safe place to work on relationships with family or partners; increasing communication, creating stronger bonds and healthier partnerships.
Currently taking new clients! We all hope to be happy and find peace in our lives, but at times our feelings of anxiety and depression can be overwhelming. There are days it's hard to cope with life's simple challenges. For some, its past negative experiences or trauma that are causing the pain or sadness. These feelings can impact all areas of our lives; at home, at work, with our family and friends. Sometimes its our relationships that are causing us stress, and nothing seems to make things better. You try to resolve the issues, but it just doesn't seem to work. Its time to reach out for help.

The Centre for Psychodynamic Insights is a virtual clinic specializing in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This approach explores the root causes of symptoms by uncovering and understanding underlying emotions through evidence-based treatment. Through collaborative dialogue, we examine unconscious thoughts and emotions shaped from childhood to the present. We work to relieve symptoms by understanding how these patterns affect current experiences, and create targeted strategies for meaningful change long-term.

Have you noticed or been told that you overreact in, or withdraw from, emotional situations? Do you struggle with anxiety, depression and/or negative self-talk? Is it hard for you to trust others, to set healthy boundaries, or to be kind to yourself? Have you had childhood experiences that you can’t overcome? Do you have conflictual or unstable relationships? If so, you are probably having trouble managing/ regulating your emotions. Unmanaged emotions can lead to behaviours or actions that damage relationships, foster insecurity and reduce motivation and self-esteem, to name a few.

I strive to honour and help clients embrace all parts of themselves, with the understanding that behaviour develops for a reason and even the most destructive patterns usually originate as attempts to protect ourselves or others. With me, you can expect compassion, respect, authenticity, and collaboration. I will work with you to find strategies and solutions that make sense for your life, and we will check in often to make sure we are on the right track. I work from a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens, using strategies from IFS, EMDR, mindfulness, CBT, EFT, and the Gottman Method.

My approach is grounded in respect, collaboration, and genuine curiosity about your story. I believe that healing unfolds most naturally when you feel safe, understood, and free from judgment. Many people come to therapy carrying years of unspoken experiences—moments they minimized, memories they pushed aside, or emotions they learned to manage alone. These layers often shape how you think, feel, and respond to the world, sometimes in ways that no longer align with who you want to be. Therapy offers a space to pause, reflect, and begin to understand these patterns with clarity and compassion.

Marriage Counselling
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
