We all carry unspoken narratives within. Taking the courageous step into therapy means you are ready to uncover these chapters and genuinely discover what comes next. While our conversations may compassionately explore challenging emotions and difficult patterns, I also believe therapy is a powerful space for relief, growth, and laughter. I believe healing flourishes through authentic human connection. Beyond my professional role, I bring authenticity inspired by my life as a pet owner, art appreciator, foodie, and lifelong learner.

We all have parts of ourselves that we wish were easier to manage or past experiences that have shaped how we function day to day. I am a trauma therapist that works with children, youth and adults. My work focuses on developing an understanding of these parts of ourselves and our past experiences so you can begin to cope and heal to be the best version of yourself. I’ve always felt a deep pull toward helping people. Over my 30 years as an educator, the students I’ve worked with have shaped who I am—teaching me about empathy, humility, and what it really means to feel seen and understood. If you appear to have it all together on the outside, yet feel anxious, overwhelmed, or not quite enough on the inside, you’re not alone. I work with students, educators, and adults who are looking for more than just a place to vent—people who are ready to better understand themselves and find a steadier way forward.

I have specialized experience and passion for working with adults, adolescents, and families who have been dealing with life stressors and transitions, difficulties from the past, and big emotions in the present.
I believe that every person has the innate ability to cope with the challenges in their lives, but sometimes experiences from the past make it difficult to tap into these abilities. I help folks who have experienced trauma or other overwhelming life stressors discover their inner strength and resiliency. When you are feeling stuck or disconnected from the life you want to lead, I hope to bring my warm presence, empathy, and genuine curiosity to help close the gap between where you are and where you want to be.

Along with traditional talk therapy, I also offer mindfulness sessions and mindful movement, walk-and-talk therapy, parenting/ family therapy and adult attachment assessments for personal understanding and relationship growth.
Having over two decades worth of clinical experience means I've learned much about the human experience and the commonalities between us, as well as what makes people unique and diverse. I help people figure out how to better manage unpleasant thoughts, emotions, bodily responses and behaviours with mindfulness skills, how to be more genuinely themselves based on their values and identities, how to be in relationship from an effective communication and attachment lens and how to cope with difficult or traumatic life circumstances.

I have particular interest and extensive experience working with trauma or difficult past experiences, family relationship difficulties, suspected or diagnosed ADHD, and suspected or diagnosed Borderline Personality Disorder.
Do you want to see changes in your life, but don't know what to do next? Do the same issues or patterns come up for you again and again? As we go through life, we face challenges that can impact us and our personal growth going forward. Sometimes the things we have been doing in the past to cope and get by don't seem to work or have the same effect as they once did . We need to find new ways of thinking and behaving to readjust, cope, and heal from the past so we can manage the challenges ahead of us. Let’s team up together to take control of your story and make the changes you would like to see in your life.

My name is Serena, and I support teen girls 14+ and adult women navigating depression, anxiety, body image, and perfectionism. Maybe you look like you are functioning, but inside you feel heavy, numb, or constantly on edge. You might compare yourself to others, pick yourself apart in the mirror, or feel like you have to get everything right to be okay. Even when you achieve something, it does not land, and self doubt shows up instead. Over time, this can leave you drained, disconnected, or unsure of who you are. Therapy can be a space to quiet the pressure and reconnect with yourself. Accepting new clients!

The smile you wear everyday on the outside is wearing you down on the inside. You've accomplished a lot, yet you still feel like you're coming up short. At the root of your anxiety is a familiar sense that you're not good enough unless you make something of yourself. It pushes you to excel at work, but it riddles you with doubt in your relationships and makes it hard to be honest about how you feel. You hold your feelings back from the people you love because you don't want to burden them. So you keep your struggles to yourself. This is the way it's always been, but you're reaching a breaking point.

I have 15 years of experience helping children, teens and families with a variety of issues related to mental health/ behavioural challenges and relationship breakdown.
Are you feeling stuck in your life or your relationship? Do you feel like you are always on edge, waiting for the next disappointment? Do you have disruptive thoughts or worries that prevent you from being present, kind and loving to yourself and others? Over time, and with experiences that leave us feeling hurt or shamed, we create defenses that shield us from these overwhelming emotions. Unfortunately, they also block us from feeling love and connection to ourselves and those we love. Together, we can bring about greater understanding and connection with yourself and in your relationships with others.

FAQ - About Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
