I have been a practicing clinical social worker for 50 years. Love my work which explains why I am still providing therapy into my semi-retirement years. I believe in the all important therapeutic relationship . Without that connection with that person I serve not much growth or change can happen. I congratulate my clients for making that difficult call to me but then challenge him/her/ them to make change, explore, reflect and discover what they want to do about the issues that brought them to to counselling. The therapeutic principles that I adhere to over the 50 years include: 1- Individualization: based on the right of

My approach is based on a caring, professional relationship with you where you can feel comfortable discussing the issues you are facing in a safe setting with a compassionate and skilled professional.
Talking about it is not always easy. Counselling can help to make sense of what you are going through and how to move forward towards realizing your own potential. I provide counselling for individuals and couples as they deal with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, anger management, interpersonal relationships, and stress. In every crisis there is opportunity for growth and I am here to help you find it.

These issues can then cause difficulty with connecting emotionally to your partner ; reduced intimacy; workplace stress; an inability to find employment or return to employment; an inability to relate to family members; and ineffectively dealing with stress and trauma (ie.
At certain times in our lives, we may feel like we are stuck. We struggle with maintaining our relationships with our significant other and families, have difficulty meeting work deadlines, or are unable to deal with the emotions of a traumatic event (ie. car accident or loss of a loved one). Counselling is a way to work through issues. Here are a few other reasons why individuals and couples may seek counselling: increased conflict and reduced connection due to anger, fear, depression, anxiety, sadness, self-esteem issues, grief, and trauma.

The modalities I often use are solution focused, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and Gottman couples counselling .
I am a registered clinical counsellor and have been working as a counsellor since 2020. I offer clients a supportive place to be heard, validated, and to personally reflect. I believe that there are many life experiences that bring individuals into counselling. I am looking for clients who want to see a change in their lives, want to better understand themselves, and who want to heal from the challenges life has thrown at them. I enjoy meeting my clients where they are at and supporting them along their journey. I work with adults, families, couples , and youth.

Mind, Body, Spirit: I am honoured to be able to help individuals cope with anxiety, grief, stress, depression, trauma, addictions, and relationship difficulties which are normal obstacles most of us contend with in our lives.
Virtual (on-line) counselling will be my current mode of therapy. Peace and Balance versus Anxiety and Stress. My passion is helping people empower themselves to cope better in their lives.. in relationships, in self-confidence, in spirituality. Sometimes we need to talk about very personal things with an objective, compassionate, nonjudgmental listener. I have worked for over 25 years helping people find themselves and find their 'peace of mind.'

I'm a Master's Level Clinical Social Worker and have supported adults, teens and couples to address some of the difficult events that have impacted their lives.
Taking New Clients! We all strive to be happy. But some days life can feel so overwhelming its hard to breathe. We may feel anxious, sad or frustrated, and it's hard to cope with day to day challenges. Our feelings can impact our relationships with our family, our ability at work, or time with our friends. They may cause self-doubt, social issues and health concerns. Often we have no idea where these feelings are coming from. We just know we are hurting. But to effectively address these feelings we need to have a better understanding of what's causing the difficulties.

I help adults struggling in relationships overcome their worries and anxiety so that they can have deeper, more authentic and connected relationships. It can be frightening and frustrating to try to deal with the struggles of anxiety and worry in relationships on your own and without guidance to help you cope with these uncomfortable feelings. By creating a safe environment to explore and understand one's underlying feelings, one creates more freedom and choice in how to respond in a relationship as opposed to repeating old painful patterns and reactions, which can leave one feeling more disconnected and alienated.

Since 2004 I have provided counselling to individuals and couples in and around London.
Many people have found themselves in the exact place you now find yourself – wondering if they should seek the guidance of a professional counsellor for personal, marital or family problems. Here are some of their uncomfortable self-reflections: “Tensions always hover over my relationship with my partner .” “I want to be a better parent.” “I do not look forward to going to work anymore.” “My partner and I keep getting stuck when we try to talk about our problems.” “I want to enjoy being a parent, but often I do not.” “I want to feel happiness and gratitude for my life and the people in it, but I cannot get there.”

The relationship that you and I form is the foundation upon which we will work towards creating a greater sense of well-being.
We all have times in our lives when we feel overwhelmed, but most of us are more resilient than we know. And it can be daunting to find the right person to reach out to – a person who “gets” you, or a person with whom you're comfortable speaking.

I strive to create a safe space where adults, youth, couples , and families could dig deep to rediscover their strengths and ultimately confront the demons they are struggling with in their various relationships.
CURRENTLY ACCEPTING CLIENTS. WEEKENDS AVAILABLE. I am an international social work practitioner. I have been practicing and teaching social work for the past 25 years. As I am a reflective listener, I have learned that each client's lived experience is an interesting biography. I, therefore, like to explore with clients the issues and problems they face in order to identify their roots. Naturally my approach to therapy is deeply rooted in people's freedom of choice. I consider myself patient, considerate, practical, and very respectful of clients and their choices.

Gladys provides counselling to individuals 18 and older, who may be struggling with a variety of issues, including trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges and self-esteem, to name a few.
Imagine being in a place where you feel safe, supported and accepted, in a way that moves you to tell your story to someone who listens to you fully and really hears what you are saying. Most of us rarely experience this. However, this is the experience Gladys strives to create for each of her clients: a space of understanding, curiosity and hope, one that naturally leads to the uncovering of answers to life's difficulties, to the resolving of the anxieties that surround you.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
