Since 2004 I have provided counselling to individuals and
couples
in and around London.
Many people have found themselves in the exact place you now find yourself – wondering if they should seek the guidance of a professional counsellor for personal, marital or family problems. Here are some of their uncomfortable self-reflections: “Tensions always hover over my
relationship
with my
partner
.” “I want to be a better parent.” “I do not look forward to going to work anymore.” “My
partner
and I keep getting stuck when we try to talk about our problems.” “I want to enjoy being a parent, but often I do not.” “I want to feel happiness and gratitude for my life and the people in it, but I cannot get there.”

My 17 years of experience as a social worker has taught me the therapeutic
relationship
is a partnership that is built on trust and authenticity.
Finding the right therapist is a process, and I appreciate that this process can feel overwhelming. I applaud you for taking the first step. Although the prospect of opening up to a stranger can be scary and leave you feeling exposed and vulnerable, with me as your therapist, you will not be alone in this journey. I am dedicated to offering a safe and respectful environment where I will be by your side as you explore your history, your story, and your truth. I honour the diversity of all relationships and I am passionate about supporting my clients in identifying and utilizing their inner and outer resources.

relationship
issues and self-esteem due to barriers that we may not be even aware of. Most of us are searching for nothing more than to live a life filled with happiness, contentment and a sense of purpose.

Whatever you may be going through, counselling at CSL provides a safe, validating
relationship
that helps you gain insight, nurture your strengths and develop the coping skills you need to manage difficult emotions, relationships and life circumstances.
Even though your life looks good from the outside, something just doesn’t feel right. No matter how much you accomplish, you continue to feel guilty, small and like you’re not enough. When you think about it, you probably don't even know who "you" are or what you enjoy anymore. Maybe you never really did know. It may feel as though stress has taken over your life. Work is no longer fulfilling, your home life & relationships are suffering and you feel defeated at the end of the day. All of this leaves you feeling overwhelmed, down and confused, and you're not sure how to move forward.

My passion is working with adults experiencing trauma, life transitions, adjustment to illness, grief,
relationship
challenges.
Sometimes, life becomes more than we can comfortably manage. We may feel unfulfilled, sad, irritable, worried and disconnected from who we are, who we love and the life we want to live. We may feel powerless to change our situation. However, change is possible! I work collaboratively with people of all ages, honoring their unique experiences while simultaneously supporting them to increase strategies and build resiliency and confidence. Whether it is a slight ‘tweak’ or a deeper concern you wish to explore, I am happy to provide support. With new strategies firmly in place, you are empowered to create the life you desire!

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
