You wake up every morning to go to work, but you come home exhausted, you lack energy to do the things you want to do, and you’re afraid to admit you’re unhappy in your career.
You feel it deep within. A desire for something to change, for things to get better, for clarity and something new. But you also feel stuck, anxious about the unknown, and worried you’ll never experience more meaning and fulfillment in your life. You have no idea what to do.

Having worked in a demanding corporate career for a decade prior to becoming a therapist, I specialize in helping type A anxious women tame their intellectualizing, overthinking brains.
Are you stuck in a pattern of people-pleasing, overanalyzing, and intense anxiety / panic that feel impossible to control? Maybe you were the scapegoat in a family with emotionally immature parents, having to basically raise yourself? You keep trying harder, working harder, doing more, but you're exhausted and constantly walking on eggshells, waiting for the other shoe to drop. You've tried all the things - self-help, meditation, gym, yoga, breathwork, maybe self-medicating with substances - but nothing works for long. You're stuck in functional freeze, your nervous system is shut-down, and you long for a sense of safety.

I help adults navigate moral injury, occupational stress, grief, shame, addiction, career change, and identity loss.
Hi, I’m Margaret. I work with individuals who feel deeply changed by things that have happened to them, whether that is loss, a major turning point, a traumatic experience, or something you cannot quite put into words yet. Maybe you do not feel like yourself anymore, or you are carrying guilt, shame, anger, numbness, or confusion that feels hard to talk about with others. Therapy is a space to make sense of pain, grief, and disconnection while finding your way back to yourself.

Something has gone off track. Maybe school didn’t go the way you planned — you burned out, withdrew, or lost momentum and aren’t sure how to get it back. Maybe you’re still pushing through, at school or at work, but running on empty and wondering how much longer you can keep it up. Or maybe you’ve landed somewhere that doesn’t fit, and you’re not sure what direction actually makes sense for you. Whatever brought you here, you’re trying to figure out what comes next — and you’re tired of doing it alone.

As a therapy-goer myself, I understand how challenging it can be to find the right person to guide you on your healing journey. Before you read any further, take a moment to thank yourself for taking that first step—it’s a big one. As a Somali-Canadian Muslim woman, mother, and child of immigrants, I deeply understand the complexities of navigating intergenerational trauma, such as growing up in a single-parent home, facing poverty, living in social housing, and carrying the weight of self-parenting while reparenting those around you. Your burdens may feel overwhelming, but your past doesn’t have to define your future.

Many clients I work with look for support with anxiety, stress, burnout, career guidance, and improving their health.
Currently accepting new clients. I support adults who are looking for support with anxiety, chronic stress, overthinking, health worries, burnout, and performance pressure - in work, sport, or music. My approach is collaborative, warm, and practical. I believe that therapy doesn’t have to be stuffy - humour, creativity, and curiosity are welcome here.

Are you intelligent, "type-A", with a million things always on the go? On the outside you appear to have "made it", but on the inside your anxiety is crippling. You wonder if you have ADHD, you're working on 100 things at once, never seeming to be able to slow down until you crash (and then beat yourself up for resting). You start to wonder if you're depressed. Why does it feel like you're on such a roller coaster of emotions? You've tried journaling, meditating, maybe even medication or therapy, but you still feel stuck. You know you need to "love yourself", but you don't know how to actually DO that.

As well as my professional career, I am very proud of having raised my son and daughter and can empathize with being a working parent.
Our lives are affected, on a daily basis, by things that can be difficult to manage. However, it is all in how you approach these obstacles, and what you allow your mind set to be. I am certain, with support, everyone can acheive their goals and live their best life. My approach is to be a sounding board, offer considered advice and to challenge you to come up with solutions that work best for you. We will work towards your best outcome together.

NEW June 2026 - Are you in your late 20s or early 30s, with the career your parents brag about, the partner everyone says is great, and the apartment you finally decorated - but now find yourself crying in the car after a normal Tuesday, drafting and deleting the same email three times before you send it, and lying awake at 1am Googling "am I burnt out or in the wrong career"?
Hi, I'm Alesha. Before becoming a therapist I spent a decade in HR in the federal government - the person people quietly came to when work, life, and everything in between collided at once. Having navigated my own seasons of grief and uncertainty, and I know what it's like to have to keep showing up when the ground shifts under you.

Helpers, healthcare workers, teachers, social workers and caregivers in general are some of the most compassionate and dedicated people I know. They are so dedicated to the folks they support they often don't realize the effect it has on their own emotional health and well-being. Working the front lines of social services for 20 years, I witnessed the impacts of workplace stress, vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue and full body and emotional burnout that can come from this unique work.

New June 2026: Are you a Type A, driven, hardworking woman who is quietly unraveling inside? No one sees your high-functioning anxiety or the trauma responses running the show. Your mind never stops, your body is always tense, and relaxation feels impossible. Praise doesn’t register. You wonder if maybe you have ADHD, depression, or just burnout - but deep down, your intuition knows somethings off. Maybe you grew up having to perform, stay small, or manage other people’s emotions. You’ve tried the walks, journaling, meditations... but your nervous system still feels stuck. You know you need to “love yourself”-you just don’t know how

Career Guidance Counsellors
How do I know if I need career counselling?
Determining whether a career counsellor is needed involves assessing one's current career and identifying what changes can be made to improve one's overall quality of life. In particular, feelings of loss of motivation, fatigue, anxiety, depression, procrastination, or ongoing levels of high stress can all be indicative of a need for career-related counselling. In addition, individuals changing jobs may want the decision-making support or self-reflection opportunities provided by a career counsellor.

Who can benefit from career counselling?
Anyone can benefit from the self-reflection, skill development, and stress management techniques that career counselling can provide. However, individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or burnt out with their current job and individuals considering a major career change may particularly benefit from career counselling to improve their wellbeing. Additionally, individuals who are facing issues in their current job, such as coworker relationship challenges or not meeting performance goals, may benefit from the perspective that a career counsellor can provide. College-age or young professionals may also uniquely benefit from career counselling as they make key decisions surrounding education and job training that will impact their career trajectory.

How long does career counselling typically last?
The length of career counselling can vary greatly depending on the needs of the individual and what type of support they are seeking Career coaching or advising services—which serve clients in a specific, goal-oriented capacity—often last for a shorter duration and are sometimes only a single session or a few sessions in length. In contrast, career counselling as part of a more integrative therapeutic relationship with a counsellor may last longer, particularly if the issues faced by the client are longstanding and/or more complex in nature; in such cases, individuals may expect therapy to last multiple months or longer.

How to prepare for career counselling?
Clients can prepare for career counselling sessions by outlining the specific topics they would like to address with the counsellor, such as current job challenges or hopes for the future of their career. Compiling one's thoughts on such topics often requires reflection on one's career and future goals, which in itself can be beneficial for session preparation. Clients may also want to put together a list of questions they would like to ask the counsellor, particularly if the career counsellor they are seeing has particular expertise in a given career area. Conducting research into potential future jobs, training opportunities, or support resources in one's area may also help clients prepare for career counselling by providing them with a background of what resources are available in their area.
