Many people come to therapy not because everything is falling apart, but because something inside feels tight, muted, or out of reach. You may be functioning well on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of yourself on the inside. My work is Gestalt-informed, body-based, and art-centered, which means we pay attention to what emerges through sensation, emotion, image, and lived experience, not just words. You don’t need to be creative, broken, or in crisis to come. Therapy here is a place to slow down, listen inwardly, and reconnect with what feels real, alive, and true for you. You are not alone.

When the pressure is constant and the stakes are high, it can feel like there’s no room to struggle. After 26 years in law enforcement and emergency services, I understand that weight. Now as a therapist, I provide a steady, confidential space where you can let your guard down, process what you’ve carried, and rebuild strength from the inside out. I also offer NeurOptimal Neurofeedback to support nervous system regulation, focus, and emotional resilience.

You're not reading this because things are "fine." You're here because something's wrong - anxiety that won't stop, relationships that feel harder than they should, or a version of yourself you can't quite reach. My clients are people who want more than a sounding board - they want a therapist who helps them work through the mess, turn confusion into clarity and struggle into growth. Therapy isn’t just about talking — it’s about making change.

Are you thinking that something needs to change? Do you feel a little tired, scared, hurt or fed up? Are there meaningful things in your life that aren't working out right now? Is it time you stood up, and took on, what has been heavy on your mind or heart? I have worked with hundreds of individuals, couples and families who have faced challenges and transitions that many of us experience at some time in our lives. I am familiar with the things life can throw your way, and how to be able to thrive, not just survive, afterwards.

When did becoming an adult get so tough? Do you ever feel like you woke up one day, and even though you followed all the steps you were supposed to, you continue to feel overwhelmed with anxieties about your life and the future? Did pressures from your family and friends lead you into a career path that you don’t love or a relationship that is unfulfilling, and now you’re wondering how to get your life back? I understand what it is like to reach a certain stage in life and feel misguided, unsupported, and unsure of yourself.

You’re self-aware, but something still isn’t changing. You’ve thought about your patterns, maybe even talked about them, but you keep finding yourself in the same place. Overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from the life you want. You can see what’s happening. You understand your reactions, your habits, and the ways you might be getting in your own way. But insight alone hasn’t led to meaningful change, and that can feel frustrating. Or maybe things are okay on the surface, but you know they could be better. More intentional, more aligned, more reflective of who you actually want to be.

I integrate psychodynamic and relational therapy to explore deeper patterns, alongside CBT, DBT, and ACT, to build practical tools for managing thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, stuck in your thoughts, or repeating the same patterns in your relationships? Maybe you’re constantly overthinking, struggling to manage your emotions, or feeling disconnected from yourself or others. You might look like you have things together on the outside, but internally, it feels exhausting to keep up. I work with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, and difficulties with self-worth, communication, and emotional regulation.

Many people come to therapy having felt a chronic sense of loneliness or disconnection, having had to hide or reject parts of the self in an effort to find belonging. Therapy is, for many of us, one of the only spaces where we can allow ourselves to be honestly seen without judgment or expectations. It can become an important place to express and explore the emotions and experiences that have built up over time and are now feeling heavy, tangled up, overwhelming, or stuck.

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
