I recognize that life is complex, and so are the issues we live with. Whether it be a significant change, like losing a loved one, or tension within a meaningful relationship, it can feel overwhelming and hopeless trying to find our way through these challenges. I believe that we have the solutions to solve our problems within us and, at times, this requires us to reach out for support to uncover the answers to overcome these problems. From there, we seek to understand how we can learn from these hard times to strengthen ourselves and our relationships and find meaning from our experiences.

Somewhere along the way, many of us learn to shrink ourselves to stay loved, accepted, or safe. If that sounds familiar, you might be carrying childhood trauma, faith-based trauma, or the weight of navigating your identity within your culture, your family, or the LGBTQ2IA+ community. You might be neurodivergent and still figuring out what that means for how you move through the world. I work with adolescents and adults facing these experiences, including depression, C-PTSD, family dysfunction, and relationship challenges, and I bring culturally responsive care that honours where you come from.

Some of what shaped you happened long before you had words for it. You learned to read the room, to keep the peace, to need very little. It worked then. Now it shows up as relationships where you walk on eggshells, an apology reflex, and a tiredness that sleep does not touch. Maybe you are also carrying a loss, and everyone around you has moved on while you are still standing in it. I lost my own mother, so I know grief does not follow a schedule. You do not have to explain the whole story before we begin, and nothing you bring here will be too much.

Nobody warns you how much the years after sixty ask of you. The work that gave your days their shape ends. Friends go, and sometimes a partner goes. Your body sets terms you never agreed to, and the people who once needed you now visit instead. It can feel as though the world has quietly decided you are finished, when in fact you are in the middle of one of the largest transitions of your life. For women it can begin with the mood and identity shifts of menopause. I am walking into this stage myself, and I do not treat aging as a problem to be managed. It is a chapter that deserves the same honesty and attention as any other.

You are trying to build a future that keeps shifting under your feet. Will there even be jobs? Will AI make your degree pointless? Everyone online seems to have it figured out while you are still not sure what you are doing. That worry does not stay in your head. It shows up in your body: the nausea before emails, the headaches, the racing heart, the nights you cannot switch off, the way you start avoiding the things that scare you. If the future feels less exciting than it does frightening, you are not overreacting and you are not alone. For a lot of young adults right now, this is what anxiety looks like.

Your mind and your emotions both seem to run faster than you can keep up with. One moment you're fine, the next your chest is tight, your thoughts are racing toward everything that could go wrong, or a wave of panic or anger comes out of nowhere and takes over. Maybe you replay conversations for hours, lie awake bracing for tomorrow, or feel things so intensely that the size of the reaction scares you. You might look calm and capable on the outside while it's exhausting on the inside. This isn't you being weak or "too sensitive." It's a nervous system stuck on high alert, and it can be turned down.

The inevitability of change is something that we can wrestle with as we seek safety and stability in our lives and relationships. If you're experiencing loss, struggling in your relationships, navigating trauma, or riding the rollercoaster of a loved ones addiction, change can feel like a threat that is constantly looming, waiting to take away the very ground you're standing on. However, change is not inherently negative, and you do not have to feel alone. Together we can work towards rebuilding a sense of safety and resiliency that can help you withstand your current circumstances, and empower you to look to the future with hope.

Maybe you've promised yourself you'd stop, more than once, and only you know how many times. Maybe you've told yourself it isn't really a problem, or that you'll deal with it tomorrow, or that it isn't bad enough to need help. Lately something feels off, like it takes more than it gives, and it's harder to sit with than you expected. On the outside you might look like you're holding it together, while inside things feel heavier than they should. If you've never said any of this out loud to anyone, that makes sense. Problematic pornography use is a private thing, and shame keeps most people quiet long after they start to wonder.

People around you see you as capable, responsible, and “together” —yet internally feel driven by constant self-criticism, pressure, or emotional exhaustion. If you strongly identify with busyness, being a "doer", or often feel like you say yes when you want to say no. Some people close to you might even call you a people pleaser. If you feel like you are "over-functioning", burning out or constantly exhausted because you are always minimizing your own needs to support others.
Many people I work with learn this pattern very early on. They learned that to be of value or to survive meant sacrificing themselves for others, or the job.
