I am passionate about creating relationships and spaces that are authentic, validating and transformative. Rooted in liberation, anti-oppressive and trauma-informed care, I center people's experiences, needs, ways of knowing and being as they explore their experiences and new paths to understanding themselves in deeper ways. As a gender expansive Autistic ADHD'er therapist, and survivor of trauma I provide support to other neurodivergent Two-Spirit and LGBTQIA+ people as they (re)define their values and (re)connect with their intuitive sense of themselves and the world around them.

I help clients untangle those patterns, understand where they came from, and learn new ways to move through the world. My style is warm, collaborative, and rooted in trauma-informed, attachment-focused care. Waitlist for new clients
Open for new clients! I enjoy working with people who have had long-term mental health struggles and a history of trauma. The people I see are often struggling with understanding the impact of childhood wounds, stressful relationships involving difficulties with intimacy or autonomy, coping with the after-effects of sexual violence and feeling stuck in emotions such as shame and loneliness. These people may be trying to reconcile their values and desired way of being in the world with intense reactions that seem to come out of the blue. I also support people around gender, sexuality, neurodivergence, and non-monogamy.

It can be hard to navigate life. Sometimes we have a clear sense of what is wrong or needs to change, but we don't know how to get there. Other times we feel completely at sea, not even knowing how to name what we are feeling or what we want. There is no right way to approach this work: bring your self and we can work together to sort out the rest. Let's explore who you are, your challenges, what you feel, and what you need to help you to navigate life in a way that feels meaningful to you. I have worked with folks struggling with a range of concerns and am looking forward to meeting you where you are at.

In her book The Gifts of Imperfection, Bréné Brown says that “owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do”. It is my privilege as a Psychotherapist to provide space and support as individuals dive into the stories of their lives and do the hard work of healing. Certified in EMDR, and other types of evidence-based trauma therapies, I’m grateful to be able to provide an opportunity for individuals to release the emotional, mental, and physical blocks caused by trauma and other difficult life circumstances.

My clients are often in their 20s to 40s, navigating life transitions, relationships, sexuality, or identity. They may feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure of who they are but want to grow and feel more confident. Many have started their healing or self-development journey and are ready to go deeper. I help clients strengthen self-worth, explore intimacy, and create more fulfilling connections- with themselves and others- through a trauma-informed and sex-positive lens.

How many of us focus solely on the problems we experience in our lives, while leaving out so much of our narrative, such as our hopes for ourselves, the ways that we survive life's challenges and our commitment to doing the work of healing even when it feels hard? Rather than focusing on “problems/behaviours”, I will explore with you the needs that your coping skills meet, and work on developing more adaptive ways of meeting those same needs. I will work collaboratively with you to explore stuck points, and look at the many different social factors that precipitate and maintain your sense of "stuckness"

I work with early-career psychotherapists, social workers or psychologists who are looking for quality supervision and training in the field of psychotherapy or psychology. I have spent several years myself in supervised practice, and since becoming an autonomous clinician, I have developed a passion for mentoring, supervising and training practitioners. I do not offer opportunities for clinicians to work with clients in a private practice, rather, I offer supervision for clinicians who already have an established case load.

Personality Disorders Counsellors

What are the common treatment options for personality disorders?

Personality disorders are typically treated with psychotherapy, sometimes in conjunction with medication. Therapy can help people with personality disorders develop skills to tolerate difficult emotions, navigate interpersonal relationships, and solidify their sense of self. Medications can treat symptoms that co-occur with the disorder, such as depression, anger, aggression, and impulsivity.

When to seek treatment for personality disorders?

Even though treatment for personality disorders can be an uphill battle, it’s best to seek help if you suspect that you or a loved one is struggling with one, because personality disorders can create substantial problems in life. Symptoms depend on the specific disorder, but overall signs of personality disorders include consistent difficulty maintaining close relationships, dramatic variations in self-esteem, and an unstable sense of identity.

How long does therapy take for personality disorders?

The timeline for treating personality disorders isn’t as clear-cut as it is for other disorders. Change can be difficult, taking from around one year to five, 10, or more. The key is finding a therapist who has extensive experience treating the relevant disorder. For example, a psychologist who specialises in narcissistic personality disorder has specific communication strategies that allow them to sustain the relationship and be more effective with narcissistic patients.

Can therapy help people with personality disorders?

Research suggests that for those who are motivated to address concerns or interpersonal conflict related to a personality disorder, therapy is far more effective than no treatment, and that most people in therapy see improvements. However, since personality disorders involve entrenched elements of identity, they are less responsive to treatment than are other mental health conditions. Finding an expert who has extensive experience working with a given personality disorder is one factor that increases the likelihood of successful treatment.
