I am a woman who has decided to retire from her regulatory college(CRPO), to venture along a path that aligns with my values. Beyond what I am educated and practiced in, I hold special capacity to see people who are fed up with mandates, and who are stressed about certain ideologies enforced on their kids in public schools. I also hold space for practitioners who are experiencing adversities from their regulatory colleges, who are seeking community with like-minded people.

The clients I serve in my practice are women , people of colour, indigenous communities and lgbt2sq identified people. You’ve been in therapy before and although you’ve seen results you aren’t yet at the place you want to be. Feelings of stress, anxiety, stuckness and depression are familiar to you. You’ve been going in circles in your relationships and your career and now you’re ready to dig deeper. Your core beliefs keep pulling you back into old patterns like people pleasing, controlling behaviours, co-dependency, and difficulty prioritizing yourself and identifying your needs.

As a late-diagnosed autistic woman with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, I am extremely passionate about neurodiversity and supporting others who found out late-in-life that they are neurodivergent.
I am committed to creating safe spaces for clients where they can gain self-awareness, confidence, and compassion for themselves. Walking into a session with me you can expect a judgement-free zone where there are no wrong questions, reactions, or emotions. I am able to meet clients where they are at, so for me, an ideal client is anyone who is curious about themselves and the challenges they may be having, and who is open to meaningful conversation around these pieces. My passion lies in walking alongside others as they share their stories, gain perspective, and reclaim parts of their narrative that no longer serve them.

As a late-diagnosed ADHDer myself, I have a special passion and experience supporting young adult neurodivergent women (confirmed diagnosis or not!).
It can feel overwhelming to navigate the challenges of ADHD and anxiety, whether your mind is constantly busy with a negative inner monologue, or you feel dysregulated, stuck, or disconnected from yourself or others. Perhaps you are experiencing a deep sense of shame because of this. In session with me, you can expect a non-judgemental space, where I meet you where you are at. Together, we will welcome all your emotions, thoughts, and experiences to be held with compassion and curiosity. By leaning into these emotions and beliefs that are keeping you stuck, you can learn to cultivate compassion toward your authentic self.

Hi There! I'm a registered social worker, psychotherapist and guide with KB & Associates, providing psychotherapy online across Ontario. I have 13+ years of experience supporting people to reach their version of a happy and balanced life. I believe that the most important part of therapy is that those I meet with feel a genuine sense of care and compassion. This is why I meet clients with a very relaxed, friendly and adaptable approach. Work with clients is always trauma informed, client-centered and client-led. Put simply, you tell me where you want to go on this journey called ‘therapy’ and I’ll work with you to get there.

ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS - Recognizing you want help and reaching out for it takes courage and isn’t easy. I believe that we all do the best with what we know and when we know better we do better (Maya Angelou). When you are ready I would be honoured to be the one who helps you know and do better. My approach is client centered and I work with you where you are at, at your pace and on what you are ready to focus on. I also practice from a strength based and trauma informed perspective. I aim to provide a space to do this that is comfortable, open and free of any bias or judgement; where you feel respected and empowered.

Do you long for friendship and belonging, but fear closeness? Do you get attached quickly but things don’t turn out the way you had hoped? Do you find yourself repeating patterns that you want to change, but are unsure of how, or where, to begin? You describe yourself as a giver but feel upset and disappointed when others don’t give back. You try to be the best version of yourself, but you’re exhausted. Experiences like these can leave us feeling unsafe. We feel lost and alone, desperately wanting change but not sure what steps to take.

Often taking the first step is the hardest. I offer a private and safe space to explore your needs and struggles. Often we lose sight of our greatest strengths in everyday life. I offer acceptance base therapy and then I help you work towards change. Most of my experience has been with young adults. I truly enjoy starting an internal journey with you. Different parts of you come alive in the therapy room. When you know yourself and your different parts it is much easier to cope with life's difficulties.

Your little one is inconsolable. You've checked the diaper, fed them, they're warm but NOTHING is helping. You go for a hug, they push back and the crying turns into screaming. Then you feel it. Your patience is wearing thin. The anger is rising up. And that nagging voice gets louder, "You should know how to fix this. You're failing. A good mom would know what to do." This isn't the first time either. It's becoming a pattern and before you know it, you've turned into the mother you never wanted to be. This time with your little one is short and you feel like it's slipping away because your emotions are out of control.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
