I work with clients from a variety of unique experiences such as (but not limited to) neurodiversity, past trauma, or a history of sexual abuse.
I take a trauma-informed, person centered and solution focused approach. I am a highly sensitive, intensely curious, and nonjudgmental therapist. I rely on honesty even when that means sharing uncomfortable truths and love to utilize humor. I invite individuals into a deep therapeutic relationship where we can explore all parts of the self.

I have worked for over 15 years with survivors of sexual abuse/ assault and domestic violence, as well as with people experiencing self-esteem, depression, anxiety, phobias, and trauma issues.
Many of us silently cope with difficulties in our lives. But you don't have to. Reaching out to a therapist for support gives you the opportunity to explore what is holding you back and start improving your quality of life. People have the capacity to make positive changes in their lives with the right support and guidance. With support, you will tap into your strengths, find hope, and heal emotional wounds. I work with individual adults who are experiencing mental health issues (anxiety, depression, etc), trauma, phobias, negative self-esteem, family of origin issues, work issues, and relationship issues.

Hi! I'm a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a primary focus in trauma. If you're struggling to cope with your trauma and don't know what to do, I'm here to help. We all respond to trauma differently, which can sometimes make us question whether what we're experiencing is "normal" or ok. Symptoms can be frightening and confusing and can affect all areas of our lives, including self-esteem, relationships, mood, and more. My aim is to help you understand how trauma affects your brain and body, build healthy coping skills, and to support you in your journey toward healing, whatever that looks like for you.

Trauma changes you, but it does not have to define you. It is a chapter in your story, but it does not have to be your entire story. With over 12 years of experience working with survivors of childhood abuse, sexual violence, and emotional neglect, I understand the complexity and depth of the pain you may carry. Sometimes that pain manifests itself as complex PTSD and/or dissociation, leading to feelings of helplessness or hopelessness. Although healing from trauma can feel like an overwhelming journey, you don’t have to walk that path alone.

You've been told you're "too sensitive" or "too much," but deep down you know you're just trying to survive with a nervous system that's been through too much, too young. Maybe you live with big emotions, a racing mind, or deep shame from past sexual trauma. You might mask your ADHD, feel stuck in patterns tied to BPD, or struggle to believe you're worth loving. You want therapy that gets the nuance—someone who sees your pain and your magic. You’re craving a soft, non-judgmental space to heal, create, and finally feel safe being your full self. Therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical—it can feel like coming home.

Many people have become more aware of their mental health needs, but aren’t always sure what to do with this new awareness. Making sense of how past events may be continuing to impact you, identifying preferred ways of living, determining what you've got to put up against any mental health concerns present in your life, and mapping out how to live into the person that you want to be, are all things that can be accomplished in therapy.

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?

A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?

Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?

Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?

As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
