I specialize in work with perfectionism, anxiety, burnout, boundaries, and OCD .
Life is tough, especially lately. Expectations are overwhelming, your to-do list keeps growing, and there's not enough time in the day. You may be trying to please everyone and end up feeling burnt out or never good enough. School or work feel like too much to handle, and self-care seems like another "should". If you're thinking: "I don’t know what to do. I’m exhausted. I’m so frustrated. I want to feel more like myself (again). I want things to change", know that you can build a life worth living. These are the things I have often heard from my clients - and we can work with that! Recovery is possible and life can get better.

Therapy doesn't have to be intimidating or shameful. Whether you can't stop thinking about something, or never feel good enough, or whether you constantly keep comparing yourself to others, or feeling like you must do everything perfectly or not at all - I am here to help. Some goals I have worked on with clients are: leaving a toxic job or relationship, learning self-compassion to improve self-esteem, labeling emotions as that begets better emotional control, improving communication skills, decreasing obsessions, processing past traumatic memories or grief and learning how to relax and be present despite one's circumstances.

Change can be tough and constant. Sometimes we adjust with ease but other times we find ourselves feeling stuck. Life can get in the way from where we desire to be. Fear of change can lead us into feeling guarded, hurt or even resentful. Do you feel like you are moving through the motions of life and not actually experiencing your life to the fullest? Ruminating on the “what ifs”? Disconnecting from the present waiting for the other shoe to drop? What if you tapped into the courage within you to lean into these moments? What if I told you that you deserve moments of joy; you deserve to experience the best in your life.

Accepting Clients - Are you looking for real-life, practical solutions to help manage your symptoms relating to trauma? You may have experienced trauma as a child, as an adult, or possibly both. You have most likely perfected the art of "avoidance" of emotions, but every now and then, lots of emotions come your way. You either feel super anxious and on edge, most of the time, or low deflated. Part of you knows that something needs to change, but it all feels a bit too scary and overwhelming. I know, you just want to feel okay. You want to learn how to manage your symptoms and live your life.

Jennifer works with clients who are ready to make a dedicated effort toward change. Many of us had unavailable caregivers whom did not have the tools to provide essential emotional support and understanding which then shaped our sense of shame and other core beliefs about our worth. As children we needed to feel safe and protected, to be guided with the appropriate balance of security and independence in order to develop confidence in our decision making. We learned to adapt and survive with coping strategies that continue to exist in the present which are no longer necessary and potentially maladaptive.

You are likely on this website because there is some aspect of your life that you are hoping to change. Perhaps you have experienced a history of unstable mood, depression, anxiety, or self-defeating behaviours. You might have tried to cope in ways that do not seem to work, or learn skills but they don't seem to stick, and somehow always end back in a place you don't want to be. If you feel that you have suffered for long enough and you have a strong desire to change the patterns that get you stuck, and process and heal from your core emotional struggle we can work together to make the changes necessary to help you move forward.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations (obsessions), or behaviours that make them feel driven to do something (compulsions). It affects children, kids, teens and adults. Often the person carries out the behaviours to get rid of the obsessive thoughts, but this only provides temporary relief. Not performing the obsessive rituals can cause great anxiety. A person's level of OCD can be anywhere from mild to severe, but if severe and left untreated, it can destroy a person's capacity to function at work, at school or even to lead a comfortable existence in the home.
