I am familiar with the loss, uncertainty, and fear associated with separation and divorce and have knowledge about the legal system, the impact on children and the challenges of co-parenting.
We all feel untethered at various points in life. I can offer a different perspective in those moments, challenge negative self talk and help you recognize and build on your strengths. If you want change in your life, I can help you craft that. If you need to re-establish boundaries, I can help you do this. If anxiety or depression are overwhelming I can help you develop healthy strategies. If you're struggling with changes in relationships or loss of relationship I offer compassionate constructive assistance. There is nothing that you can't talk about with me, and once shared, problems can be carried and resolved together.

My niche areas are Anxiety/Depression, ADHD, separation/ divorce and parenting/co-parenting.
Your days can be filled with ups and downs as you walk this journey called life. It can leave you with high anxiety levels and/or low moods/depression. You maybe struggling internally, in your marriage/relationship or as a parent/co-parent. One thing is for certain: As humans, we are hardwired for authentic and meaningful connections and in therapy you receive this. The gift of therapy is not only an act of self love, it's a granting permission to be authentically you and find yourself thriving again.

If you are a couple seeking to heal trauma, navigate your relationship or marriage, and begin to truly feel like yourselves again rather than a shell of who you once were, please reach out to me. Years of working with children and families has illuminated to me that the relationship between parents has a significant impact on the wellbeing of children. Common themes: difficulty connecting in relationships, managing relationships with NPD/BPD people, communicating with partners who shutdown, emotional regulation, managing relational conflict, family relationships, parenting, health, body image, intimacy, attachment.

Hi. I can imagine the steps leading you here today have involved some tough times. I know how difficult it is finding a therapist, especially when you’re feeling overwhelmed, emotional, scared. Or maybe things are going pretty well and you’re looking to grow. Either way, I think we all deserve every chance to prove ourselves, to ourselves in the one life we've been given here. That’s what I’m trying to do, at least. The only way I know how. Through reflection, listening, awareness, connection, and growth. I do this with folks who might need somenone to help them navigate anxiety, depression, relationship dynamics, and trauma.

Registered social worker accepting referrals for in person services (individual, or couples). I do a lot of work around trauma processing, relationships, and shifting how we respond to our feelings so they don't hold so much power over us. I do my best to make this as comfortable, or at least productively uncomfortable, as I can. I use evidence based, trauma-informed, tools that are tailored to the needs of your moment specifically, to meet you where you’re at and to begin empowering you in your moving forward (or in figuring out what that could look like).

“If I really love my partner I should want to have sex with them…right?”; “There must be something wrong with me or with the relationship if I don’t want to have sex.”; “If they aren’t getting sex from me, they’re going to find it somewhere else…” Do any of these sound familiar? Do you have a running counter of the number of days since the last time you had sex, and every day that passes leads to more and more stress “it’s been too long, I’m going to need to do it soon…”

How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?

Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?

There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?

When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
