I aim to help my clients by cultivating a strong therapeutic relationship where I can act as a sounding board and a cheerleader while also challenging you and holding you accountable to yourself and your goals.
I strongly believe in the human capacity for growth and change and that we are all students on life's journey to becoming the best version of ourselves; sometimes we need extra help, support, and encouragement along the way. I strive to provide my clients with a supportive and non-judgemental environment where you can feel safe to explore your personal challenges and issues. I believe individuals do not need to be suffering from a mental illness to seek counselling, but rather have the desire and motivation to be a better version of themselves tomorrow.

We have psychologists, social workers, and even a registered nurse psychotherapist with many years of experience supporting women, men, and couples navigate the unexpected challenges along the parenthood journey.
The path to parenthood has not looked like what you expected. Maybe you’re desperate to start or add to your family, but it’s not happening and you’re terrified that motherhood isn’t going to happen for you. Maybe you’ve experienced the devastation of pregnancy loss and are left grieving in isolation, wondering “does this grief even count if it was “just” a miscarriage?”. Or perhaps you have just welcomed a new baby, and instead of the joy you expected, you’re overcome with sadness or fear. You question "how can I be suffering so badly when I was so excited for motherhood?"

You love your partner , but find yourself wondering “what happened to us?”. You just keep waiting for things to get better on their own, but they don’t. You barely recognize yourself or your partner anymore. Maybe you find yourself fantasizing about leaving the relationship all together. Things in the bedroom are even worse. Maybe you and your partner are trying to find a way back from infidelity. You’re lonely. You’re embarrassed. Maybe you’re staying together for the kids. You or your partner are worried about going to couple’s therapy because of fear that the therapist is going to pick a side…

I offer client-centred, trauma-informed counselling services to people who have experienced trauma, life challenges, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges.
I believe that healing comes from within and that each person is the expert of their own life. Sometimes we may feel lost on the path that we are on or that we may need support from somebody neutral to our situation. I can assist with guiding people to find themselves, what makes them happy, and learn more about themselves. Being validated and understood is often lacking in most people's lives and counselling is a great space to express ourselves safely.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
