I like using Expressive Arts, Narrative, Somatic and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive techniques.
It can be hard to know who you are. We base everything we do off of our personal values and the experiences we've had. Sometimes you can feel lost, not knowing where to go next, not knowing who you are. Maybe you're wanting to change careers because you're not enjoying the daily routine, maybe you find yourself with unsatisfied about who you are and who society wants you to be, or maybe you've followed your family's ways for so long that you are left wondering who you are as an individual. How do we know who our authentic selves are? What does it mean to live our authentic lives?

I use expressive arts therapy, along with somatic and inner child/parts work, to help you connect to your strengths and deepen your understanding of your inner experience.
Have you spent much of your life tuning into what others think or want, and are feeling a pull to find what’s right for you? You may sense there’s more going on underneath, but haven’t been able to make sense of it. You might find yourself second-guessing, looking outside for answers, or knowing something doesn’t feel right. Yet what people suggest, or what’s expected, doesn’t quite fit. Something in you may be wanting a more real way of being, a way to connect with your own inner knowing and what’s best for you.

For more than a decade, I’ve had the privilege of supporting children, teens, and adults as they navigate life’s most challenging and uncertain moments. As a Registered Social Worker, my work is guided by compassion, curiosity, and a sincere belief that every person deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported.

I use somatic therapy in all my sessions to support the nervous system and heal attachment injuries.
Each time you feel let down, disappointed, discouraged or despondent it’s not permanent. There’s another breath of air where you can exhale that feeling, shake out your body and know that you have another chance to heal, to grow and to transform. Even after the same mistakes or misgivings, you are not the same. You’ve learned something. You’re not the same person each time you get caught doing the same thing over again. It’s okay to be learning. Growth is painful as we let go of the old ways of being, the old destructive thoughts and allow new ways of being to take root.

Somatic Counsellors
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
