Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists in Holland Landing, ON
My therapy is a combination of Adlerian therapy with the Holistic approach, Trauma-informed approach, CBT, EFT, DBT, and Sex therapy.
The world is full of lonely people…In life, we take many paths. Some paths are smooth, while some might be rough and challenging. Sometimes, on a particularly difficult path, we can lose sight of our goals, loved ones, and the connection to our inner selves. On the surface, it may feel like we do not have the strength to get through these hardships. But I believe that we can find it within ourselves to forge new pathways towards happiness. Therapy is empowering! By working through emotions, thoughts, and feelings, you can grow into the person you want to be, and achieve your full potential.

My approach is not cookie cutter, in that I apply a theory on you; but rather together we look at what your presenting need could benefit from and pendulate from the past-present-future with theories such as CBT, DBT, Somatic experiencing and narrative to ensure your voice is heard throughout.
I hope to provide space for you to feel heard and be seen.
Depression convinces us that we are stuck and anxiety tricks us to not move forward. Learn the 3 B's: breath, belief and balance. Breath, to separate from hurt or fear; belief, to shift to perspectives that affirm your worth and offer direction; balance, to hold the past with compassion and the future with passion
Learn how to- Do: Behaviors that create a meaningful impact and ignite pleasure; Think: Thoughts that fuel motivation, acceptance and confidence; Feel: your emotions with calm and have a new relationship with them invites you to move you forward.

Are you, or someone you care about, feeling weighed down by anxiety, low mood, ADHD, or the stress of life changes? Maybe school feels overwhelming, relationships are complicated, or confidence is slipping. For children and teens, these struggles can show up as school refusal, selective mutism, ADHD-related challenges, or behavioural outbursts. For young adults, the pressure of academics, relationships, and independence can feel like too much. My clients often want to feel less anxious, more focused and confident, and better equipped to handle the challenges life puts in front of them.

I draw from different therapy approaches (such as ACT, CBT, DBT, humanistic, somatic), consider the mind-body connection, and use trauma-informed and culturally responsive lenses to understand your experiences.
Two core beliefs I bring to therapy are: 1) our experiences can shape us without defining us and 2) meaningful growth towards our values is possible. In navigating immigration, loss, multicultural identity, and high-pressure jobs, I understand how going through changes, challenges, or losses can feel confusing, frustrating, exhausting, and lonely. If you're seeking therapy to explore questions that are coming up, process what you're going through, or figure out what is next; I welcome you! I offer a safe and supportive environment to bring your full self and thoughtful dialogue for self-reflection, self-compassion, and growth.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Counsellors
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
