Welcome to my private therapeutic practice: Hustle Heal Motivate. Hustle has become the mainstream mindset of today, as we accustom ourselves to a fast-paced culture that offers little time to process the challenges of life until these challenges begin to significantly impact us. My approach is a distinctively centred around you, drawing from modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mind and body and somatic experiencing & neuroscience based modalities. I am deeply committed to supporting you in identifying your needs, strengths and goals in order to cope, manage and most importantly to thrive.

On the good days, you are unsure if you really need any help. You think it will pass. But on the difficult days, you find yourself here. You are tired and overwhelmed. Your mood is low, and your patience is short. Your relationships feel fragile, and your resilience is waning. Adding one more to-do item to your list seems impossible. Maybe even indulgent. You can ignore your struggle, and maybe tomorrow will be a better day. Or, you can find yourself the support you deserve and know that it will be. You do not have to do this alone.

Are you a woman who finds herself feeling constantly overwhelmed? Are you plagued by thoughts that no matter how hard you try you feel like you are disappointing those closest to you? If so, you are not alone. There are so many messages about what women should be doing, feeling and looking like that it's easy to forget what matters to us as individuals. From the start, we need to empower our girls to celebrate what makes them unique so that they are able to flourish through the teenage years. Most importantly, women need to be grounded in who they are to navigate the conflicting roles of professional, partner, mother and lover.

I consider it a privilege every single time someone welcomes me to share in their therapeutic process. My intention is to bring authenticity, empathy and non-judgemental guidance to the room. I believe that therapy is a very personal experience for each of my clients, so I try to enter the therapeutic relationship as a 'clean slate', free of judgement or any agenda other than what they want or need in their healing. In my practice, I work from an anti-oppressive, client-focused, strength-based framework and believe that therapy is a collaborative process and that you are the expert of your experience.

I have a significant amount of experience in working with those who present with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, sex and relationship concerns, trauma, and oppression. My clients may struggle with internalized self-blame for the issues they're facing. I hope to help them reject harmful societal messages that lead them to believe that the problems they're having are entirely due to their personal shortcomings. I hope to provide a safe and non-judgemental space for them to process their experiences of trauma and oppression. I hope to help them develop self-care routines, strategies and boundaries to avoid burnout.

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realised.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
