Hi I'm Kristen. I am a Registered Social Worker, specializing in Grief, Bereavement and Loss, Palliative/End of Life Care and Geriatric Social Work. I believe in providing strength based, person centred, holistic care. Grief is unique to each of us, grief does not follow a timeline, and everyone navigates it differently. I acknowledge that grief can be complex and messy, and it is okay to not be okay. I often tell clients and have heard from clients that grief is the club no one wants to be a member of. Grief is a universal human experience, which we do not choose or want. "Grief is the price we pay for love."

I have spent the last 10 years working in various social work and private practice settings. A great deal of my clinical and advocacy work has been alongside 2SLGBTQ+ communities as well as adult survivors of family violence. In this work I have found that the daily stressors folks face are often heavily impacted by oppression — e.g. capitalism, racism, cisheteropatriarchy, ableism and colonialism. I am committed to co-creating a space where these areas can be explored.

My approach to counselling is strengths based, client centred and collaborative. That means working with you to figure out what’s working well, and how to do more of it. Feelings can often become overwhelming, I help people find balance and meaning. Through our work together, we will explore patterns of thoughts and behaviours which may be keeping you stuck, as well as ways of coping that aren’t helpful. I empower people to make connections between early life experiences and who they are today, moving towards change and building on their resilience.

Feeling exhausted? Stuck? You are tired of having to do it all alone. For years you have been struggling. The house, the job, the career, the family. They said we should and could have it all. You have accomplished so much but feel so empty. You have thought about asking for help for years but have been too afraid to face yourself, face your trauma. I'm here and it's time.

My goal is to support and guide you on your journey of self-discovery. While exploring who we are can sometimes feel uncomfortable, it can also be an insightful and transformative experience that brings us closer to our most authentic selves. I recognize that starting therapy is a significant step, and through my own experiences, I deeply understand and appreciate any hesitations you may have. That hesitancy is natural, but it can also be the first sign of meaningful growth and change.

Stardust is a queer-owned collective of mental health workers trying to make counselling more accessible and affirming to folks experiencing systemic oppression. All of our team members have lived experience with mental health issues and/or neurodivergence, and we recognize the role that oppression plays in causing and aggravating mental health stuff. We work from a trauma-informed, intersectional and social justice-focused framework. We believe in harm reduction and are strongly sex and sex-worker positive, kink positive, familiar with non-traditional relationship dynamics, body-positive, and anti-capitalist.

You might be carrying a lot—trauma that lingers, a brain that works differently (hello, ADHD), or the weight of navigating cultural or racial identity in spaces that don’t always get it. Maybe you’ve felt like you’re too much and not enough at the same time. You might want to feel more grounded, build better boundaries, unlearn shame, or just make sense of your story. If you are from a South Asian (or similar) culture, or neurodivergent, or simply feeling out of sync, I offer a space where you don’t have to explain the basics—you can just be.
