I use EMDR, DBT,
somatic
& parts work, and solution focused therapy in my work with clients.
You may be feeling stuck, emotionally overwhelmed and unsure of where to start, or perhaps you know exactly what you want to address in therapy. Some of my clients want to process past traumas or understand themselves on a deeper level, and others prefer to focus on working through present day challenges like work stress or family life. Regardless of where you are at, my goal is to support and guide you in working through difficult emotions or memories that are preventing you from living a life with meaning.

I employ an Integrated approach, drawing from various schools of therapy, though focusing on mindfulness,
somatic
(employing the whole, mind-body system), polyvagal, IFS and AEDP as theoretical foundations.
I regularly work with helping Clients process trauma, relationship issues, anxiety, panic attacks, uncontrolled anger, life changes and internal judgement/criticism. The Clients who report the biggest impact tend to be ones who are ready to take responsibility for their own journey. We can spend an hour together, and accomplish a lot in that time- but ultimately, the ones who experience the most change and improvement, are people who are committed to the process of their own work.

I practice trauma-informed
somatic
& relational psychotherapy. Relational psychotherapy values how the relationships in our life, from birth to death, impact how we understand ourselves, each other, our connections, ruptures and how we engage in daily experiences. Body-centered therapy uses the body to access, resource and heal unresolved trauma. Developing
somatic
resources, increases our capacity to feel safe in our bodies, gain a deeper knowing of ourselves, feel resourced & to heal. Together we will explore, what's happening in your life, where you struggle, your hopes, and how to move towards healing & thriving.

Welcome to my private therapeutic practice: Hustle Heal Motivate. Hustle has become the mainstream mindset of today, as we accustom ourselves to a fast-paced culture that offers little time to process the challenges of life until these challenges begin to significantly impact us. My approach is a distinctively centred around you, drawing from modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mind and body and
somatic
experiencing & neuroscience based modalities. I am deeply committed to supporting you in identifying your needs, strengths and goals in order to cope, manage and most importantly to thrive.

My favourite modalities are Internal Family Systems, Art therapy and
Somatic
work !.
My goal as a therapist is to create a connection that allows for curiosity, risk-taking, fun and emotional safety so that you feel empowered to share in sessions. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, life-transitions, grief, relationship issues, or questions around identity I would love to explore this with you. I enjoy connecting people to their emotions and will often aim to increase connection between your emotions and your body so you feel empowered to express your feelings and increase self-trust. Emotions have important information for us and feeling them in the presence of another is sometimes all that's needed.

As a
Somatic
Experiencing@ practitioner in training, I help individuals engage their body's innate healing response.
Trauma shows up in many different ways. Perhaps you’re experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, unexplained pain or illness, digestive issues, disturbing reminders of past events, past or current abuse or emotional numbness. Maybe you just haven't been able to shake the emotional effects of the pandemic on you and your family. With over 30 years of clinical experience providing psychotherapy services, I work with adults whose lives have been affected by such overwhelming feelings and situations, grief and loss, family and relationship concerns, emotional abuse, attachment wounds, intergenerational issues and workplace stressors.

Our past experiences and relationships often shape our ways of engaging in the present. I am passionate about supporting people to explore these experiences from a place of compassion and non-judgment. I work with individuals and families who are ready to reconnect with their bodies, gain insight from their emotions, and deepen their connection within their most important relationships. I believe that each person holds the answers within themselves and through our work together, I will support you in building on your unique inner resources to make meaningful changes in your life.

With diverse and broad training in Relational, Gestalt, and
Somatic
Psychotherapy, EMDR, Structural Dissociation Theory or Parts Work, Polyvagal Theory and Nervous System Regulation, Mindfulness and Embodiment, and EFT, I adapt the therapy to each client’s unique needs.
Do you feel like you’ve gotten too far away from who you really are, or who you want to be? Together, we will bring awareness to where you have been, where you are now, and where you want to go. While insight is essential, true transformation comes not just from being aware of how the past has influenced the present, but by processing through the mental, physical, emotional, and neurological remnants of those previous experiences and embodying new ways of being. Therapy can help you gain the clarity, confidence, and courage you need to change your life.

Struggling with childhood trauma, eating challenges, anxiety, grief (or all of the above?). Then let's talk! Using a combination of talk therapy, body-based somatics, critical reframing and psychoeducation, I work with individuals and clients to go DEEPER and get the support and results they're looking for.

I offer an environment where change can be explored in creative and practical ways. Mindful conversation and reflection, compassion for self and the practice of both cognitive and
somatic
strategies are incorporated into each session. I believe that therapy is a co-created experience. It is important to me that people find new resources and enhance the ones that are already available to them. My approach is influenced by
somatic
psychology, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, developmental, relational and psychodynamic schools of psychology.

In my 5th year of a 6-year psychotherapy training program, I see clients under the expert guidance of a clinical supervisor. This affords you the beneficial insights of two professionals on your case. With a psychodynamic psychotherapy focus, I employ a
somatic
, trauma-informed approach to the unconscious roots of emotional suffering, using attachment-theory as my guide. The client-therapist relationship is considered fundamental to the process and acts as a window into the repetitive patterns that can keep us stuck, where we don't want to be.

How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
