Hi, I’m Natalie. Living with a phobia can be exhausting, especially when other people do not understand how intense it really feels. You might know something is “not dangerous” on a logical level and still feel your whole body react like it is. Maybe you avoid certain places, situations, conversations, or decisions because the fear feels too big to push through. Over time, that can start to shrink your world, affect your confidence, and make everyday life feel harder than it should.

How do you eat an elephant?
Probably not the intro you were expecting. Whatever the reason you're viewing my profile, I'm glad you're here. I help people deal with "elephants" in their life. Problems that seem daunting, overwhelming, and just flat out impossible, like eating an elephant. At first, it seems unimaginable, but that's because we're looking at the sheer size of the elephant. When we begin to focus on the individual parts, like the tail, feet, ears, and so on, our experience changes. What once seemed unachievable now seems possible. I hope you'll reach out, together we can work on your elephant...

Parenting can be deeply rewarding, but it can also feel overwhelming, especially when your child is struggling with anxiety, big emotions, behavioural challenges, low self-esteem, school stress, trauma, or life transitions. As a parent, you may feel unsure of what your child needs, frustrated by ongoing conflicts, or concerned about changes in their mood or behaviour. You do not have to navigate this alone.

Or, maybe you’ve been holding it all together for everyone else? Smiling on the outside, while inside you feel like you’re barely keeping up? At Noia, we see you, and we're here to help. We use evidence-based tools to create lasting and deep change.

I specialize in supporting helping professionals, parents, and business leaders — those who nurture, perform, and push through. If you struggle with anxiety, feeling not-good-enough, and self-criticism. If you over-give in your relationships, and struggle to admit when you're struggling... we're probably a good fit.

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
