I specialize in maternal mental health and perinatal mood issues, such as perinatal anxiety, postpartum depression and anxiety, birth trauma and PTSD. I support women with intrusive thoughts and those more extreme worries. I also support women through miscarriage and loss. I am taking on new client as of May 2022.

I believe it takes courage to take this first step in reaching out for help. Life is full of challenges and roadblocks that can often be difficult to move past or face alone. In therapy we will work on things that are of concern to you and at a pace that feels right for you. I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, stress, grief, or relationship issues. My niche is in working with women struggling with infertility, pregnancy loss or postpartum challenges.

And your chest clenched for attention. Skin crawling desperation. To call in sick, or to stay in bed, or to numb out with distractions that you do not feel proud of. Maybe you feel nausea or fear or shame, or an emptiness that aches inside you. Or anxiety that rarely seems to settle. Maybe you have repetitive or consuming thoughts of how incompetent or unworthy you are. Maybe you just feel simply exhausted. People come to see me to move away from feelings of overwhelm, to begin to know and trust themselves (and others) again, to begin to feel better in their lives (as they define it).

Motherhood is exciting but sometimes not what you expected. While this can be very confusing or even painful, many new mothers also feel this way. It is important to speak up when you're struggling because you matter - mothers were not meant to do this alone. My goal is to help you feel more supported, confident, and empowered no matter where you are on your parenting journey, whether this is your first child or you are many years in. The good news is you are not alone and with the right help, you will get better. I also work with families on parenting goals/concerns as well as individuals for grief, loss, and bereavement.

I am a friendly, non-judgemental, and genuinely want to support you in making your life better. As a humanistic and experiential therapist, I specialize in emotion and attachment. Often clients will come to therapy seeking help for a particular issue, however, once we start working together we usually discover hidden emotions that are associated with a different and more deeply rooted issue - usually stemming from childhood or difficult events in adulthood. Discovering these masked primary emotions and patterns is incredibly rewarding and it is a key step in helping my clients move forward.

Louise's clinical focus is supporting clients affected by perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Louise understands the many complexities that parenthood brings, and recognizes that the transition into parenthood is life-changing in many ways. Louise sets her clients up for long-term success by implementing a variety of evidence-based tools, strategies, and modalities. Louise provides client-centered care and implements evidence-based psychotherapy techniques into her practice.

Valley Connections Counselling is a Psychotherapy practice with clinics in Dundas and Burlington. We offer counselling for adults, children, adolescents, families and couples.
