I employ an Integrated approach, drawing from mindfulness, somatic, polyvagal, IFS and AEDP as theoretical foundations.
I am somewhat selective with my clients, because I want to ensure that I am working in areas where I have genuine competency. Anxiety, Trauma, Emotional Regulation, Self-Esteem and helping with Relationships are the areas where I spend most of my time and where Clients report the biggest changes. Typically my caseload consists of previous clients who return to therapy to work on something new, or continue after taking a break. However, I have expanded availability and have space for 8-10 new clients. I also fucking love working with people who are hesitant about starting therapy, or who haven't liked their previous therapist.

I use strategies from CBT, mindfulness, and executive function coaching - adapted to your brain.
Accepting New Clients! Your emotions show up fast and loud—and when they do, they tend to take over. One minute you’re fine, the next you're overwhelmed, snapping at someone, or shutting down. Maybe you’ve been told you’re “too sensitive” or “too much.” Whether or not you have an ADHD diagnosis, regulating your emotions feels like a daily challenge. It can impact your relationships, your confidence, and how you see yourself. If you’re tired of riding the emotional rollercoaster and wondering why things feel harder for you, therapy might actually help make sense of it.

I draw from evidence-based practices that include cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), mindfulness practice, trauma informed practice including dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).
I consider it a privilege every single time someone welcomes me to share in their therapeutic process. My intention is to bring authenticity, empathy and non-judgemental guidance to the room. I believe that therapy is a very personal experience for each of my clients, so I try to enter the therapeutic relationship as a 'clean slate', free of judgement or any agenda other than what they want or need in their healing. In my practice, I work from an anti-oppressive, client-focused, strength-based framework and believe that therapy is a collaborative process and that you are the expert of your experience.

I work from a client-centered, strengths-based approach, and have been trained in, and use several treatment modalities: CBT, MI, and Mindfulness.
Do you ever feel like your stress, low self-esteem, low confidence, and possibly even anxiety, are getting in the way of you living your best life? Do you ever get told to “suck it up and be a man?” It is hard to manage these feelings on any given day, let alone a pandemic! Are you trying to quit smoking/drinking/drugs and looking for support, or for someone who just gets it? I can help explore these concerns and areas with you while offering different ways to cope and manage these overwhelming and “out of control” feelings.

I have worked as an aerospace engineer, in the start-up world and as a researcher and have a wide array of experiences and teachers that influence my therapeutic practice: Meditation/ mindfulness, Systems thinking, Gestalt therapy, Jungian Psychology.
Do you ever feel like you’re “broken” or fundamentally flawed? You might find yourself caught in cycles of perfectionism, people-pleasing, or feeling like you're never quite good enough. You may deal with emotions or habits that seem to undermine your life. These feelings often run deeper than we realize, shaped by early life experiences. I help people understand and heal these core beliefs and emotions. Together, we'll explore why you feel this way and work toward genuine self-acceptance. Whether it manifests as addictions, challenging relational patterns, maladaptive coping skills, loneliness, anxiety or depression there's a path.

In addition to CBT, I use Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Cognitive Processing, Therapy, MI, and others.
I completed my Master of Science in Psychotherapy and Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a minor in Psychology from McMaster University. I followed a career in Biochemistry for a few years before finding my passion in psychotherapy. I value building rich connections with others by being open, nonjudgmental, and empathetic, and fostering trust that allows others to be vulnerable. I use an anti-oppressive approach to actively listen to the diverse life experiences of each individual.

I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy, CBT, Mindfulness-Based CBT, Internal Family Systems, and Narrative Therapy.
My ideal client is someone ready to unlearn the roles, expectations, and beliefs that no longer serve them. They may feel stuck, anxious, disconnected, or constantly giving to others while neglecting themselves. They seek deeper meaning, self-understanding and a more authentic, fulfilling life. They're open to slowing down, exploring their emotions instead of suppressing them, and building boundaries that protect their peace, joy, and sense of self. I work with both adolescents and adults - and with over 12 years of experience as a high school teacher, I bring a deep understanding of the unique challenges adolescents face.

Brain retraining is a broad category and may encompass strategies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (including exposure therapy), mindfulness, narrative therapy, hypnosis and somatic work to tap into your brain's ability to heal by making new neural connections.
I am a 5th year PhD candidate in the School of Social Work at McMaster University and balance my time between my practice, academic research and my zoo (cats and dogs!) My commitment is to walk alongside you as you navigate your path through life. My work experience in the non-profit sector has found me working with those struggling with mental health challenges (general anxiety/panic, depression, OCD, agoraphobia, trauma), addiction, chronic illness/pain, relationship issues and domestic abuse. I also identify as a consumer of care as a woman with an invisible disability and am passionate about advocacy work for migraine patients.

We can explore using existential, compassionate/wisdom focused and mindfulness tools.
Overwhelmed? Alone? Stuck ? Are you experiencing a transition in your life that seems unbearable? Are you feeling angst and anxiety that has overtaken your daily schedule? My approach is client centered, warm and non judgmental. I feel it is important to create a safe space for all individuals. I think addressing the whole individual (mind, body, and soul) is imperative to healing. For those who prefer, I am willing to discuss existential questions like “Who am I?, What is my life’s purpose?, What is my mission in life?” While sitting with me we can explore your connection with a Higher Power(God, Mother Earth, The Universe etc.)

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Counsellors

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behaviour through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviours and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioural habits.
