Infertility Therapists in Hamilton, ON
Under the framework of modern attachment theories, I work with clients to gain a greater sense of self-autonomy, determination and understanding. Many of our thoughts and feelings go unchecked during the busyness of a common day. In our work together, we will first learn to identify maladaptive core beliefs that so often plague our mental wellness. From there, I will implement EFT, narrative, and mindfulness approaches to combat self-defeating behaviours. How we think and feel about ourselves has a profound effect on our overall well-being, and both consciously and subconsciously influences every action (or in-action) we take.

Coming to therapy is an act of strength and courage. My role is to provide a safe, compassionate place for you to explore and heal. Many of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or weighed down by experiences they can’t always put into words. Together, we slow down and make space for your thoughts, feelings, and patterns, so that what feels confusing or heavy can begin to make sense. My approach is psychodynamic and relational, which means I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is a powerful part of healing.

Or maybe the people who care about you have noticed some changes in you and expressed their concerns. These are all signs that many people are experiencing - you are not alone! But these signals may also mean, that it's time to invest in your wellbeing and mental health.

At Bodymind Collective, we believe in the interconnection between individual and collective healing and that good therapy should involve more than just "talking it out". We offer a holistic approach that takes into account the bio-psycho-social-spiritual dimensions of health, with an emphasis on integrating mind and body-based approaches to therapy. We recognize that the root causes of distress do not occur at an individual level but are rooted in our relationships, societal systems, and complexities of our lived experience as human beings. We support our clients to process these experiences in a safe and trauma-informed space.

Traumatic experiences and major transitions, like moving to a new country or taking entering a new role such as motherhood, often leave us feeling disconnected and scattered. They disrupt our normal routines and separate us from spaces, habits, and people who make us feel safe. Psychotherapy allows you to reconnect with
yourself by gaining insight into the patterns that have shaped who you are
and how you exist in the world. Together, I hope to help you build and use this awareness to reintegrate the things you value back into your life, and to help you navigate things in a way that feels genuine to who you are as a person.

Infertility Counsellors
How can infertility affect couples and their relationship?
Clients who are dealing with infertility may experience conflict and communication problems. It’s not unusual for shame, blame, and guilt to arise in cases of infertility, whether the source of the problem is one partner or both. This means that clients are upset and pulling away from their partner just when they need them the most. Some clients may find it difficult to spend time around friends and family who are pregnant. Friends and family can also make hurtful comments that increase tension during this time.
How does therapy for infertility issues work?
The therapist will begin by gathering information about the client or couple and make a treatment plan for their specific concerns. In addition to addressing common mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma reactions or PTSD, therapists can help clients improve their decision-making and deal with stressors unique to infertility. Some examples include coping with the “two-week wait” before a pregnancy test, the distress associated with a failed attempt or miscarriage, and the shame and blame sometimes associated with reproductive concerns.
What type of therapy is best for infertility issues?
Many therapists offer psychotherapy for individuals and couples who are dealing with infertility issues. Some helpful therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), which can aid clients in reframing negative thoughts about their situation. Expressive writing and art therapy can help clients process difficult feelings. Clients might also benefit from group therapy to experience support from others who are dealing with the same problems.
How long does therapy for infertility issues take?
There is no set length for therapy that addresses infertility or reproductive concerns. Some clients might find it helpful to continue therapy during their pregnancy to have healthy ways to cope with any associated stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Some clients who decide not to pursue fertility treatments might benefit from the support of a therapist. The duration of therapy varies depending on the individual client’s specific needs and goals.
