Presently, my area of focus is anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges and life transitions.
Overwhelmed? Alone? Stuck ? Are you experiencing a transition in your life that seems unbearable? Are you feeling angst and anxiety that has overtaken your daily schedule? My approach is client centered, warm and non judgmental. I feel it is important to create a safe space for all individuals. I think addressing the whole individual (mind, body, and soul) is imperative to healing. For those who prefer, I am willing to discuss existential questions like “Who am I?, What is my life’s purpose?, What is my mission in life?” While sitting with me we can explore your connection with a Higher Power(God, Mother Earth, The Universe etc.)

Therapy is often about exploring outdated core beliefs to see if they are useful and, if not, create new neuropathways that lead to new, more healthy behavior and responses. I meet each client where they are in their life and/or situation and explore what works for them to meet their therapeutic needs. I"m trained with Dr Stan Tatkin, Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy for over 5 years. I am certified in EMDR. I am a trained Mindful Self Compassion Teacher and teach through McMaster University Faculty Development Mindfulness programs. I am on the executive for Mindfulness Hamilton.

The best relationship you will ever have is the one you are having with yourself.
We are all evolving! People usually come to see me because a crisis has happened. The origin of the word crisis means turning point. If you are experiencing a turning point in your life I can help you navigate. Sometimes when a crisis hits we find it hard to process what is happening because we are full of the emotional and mental confusion. Therapy helps to unravel the confusion so you can awaken to the awareness that comes with the turning point. Growing in awareness can create a whole new perspective.

As a clinician I focus on building a trusting theraputic relationship with you first.
There was a time I needed to get "unstuck" I needed "hope and healing" I needed "empathy and validation". I needed someone to help me, understand me and meet me where I was without judgement so I could release some heavy burdens in a safe space and start my healing journey. I wanted to be happy, experience peace, heal my heart and not let my past experiences define me anymore. I wanted to get "unstuck" and luckily I didnt have to do it alone.

My goal is to build a therapeutic relationship with you, where you can find the means to self-compassion, self-care and forgiveness.
We all have our own stories and experiences that contribute to who we are and how we face challenges. Sometimes, we get so lost in the difficulties of the outside world that we forget to take care of our inner self. This can lead to us struggling with things such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, identity-based oppression, stress management, relationship concerns, immigrant struggles, and life changes. I understand how challenging these difficulties can be, and I am passionate about helping others move from fighting with their feelings to reaching their own inner peace.

I consider it a privilege every single time someone welcomes me to share in their therapeutic process. My intention is to bring authenticity, empathy and non-judgemental guidance to the room. I believe that therapy is a very personal experience for each of my clients, so I try to enter the therapeutic relationship as a 'clean slate', free of judgement or any agenda other than what they want or need in their healing. In my practice, I work from an anti-oppressive, client-focused, strength-based framework and believe that therapy is a collaborative process and that you are the expert of your experience.

I have had success helping people individually and as couples ranging from teenagers to older adults.
Chad is an award winning therapist who doesn't actually enjoy writing in the third person. My main goal is to help people know how to be emotionally healthy using a combination of tools I've created through life experience and modalities like solution focused therapy, CBT, EFT, and DBT. I tend to be a bit different than traditional therapists as I often have more laughs than tears in my office, but either way, my hope is to help people feel cared about and safe enough to share their lives. Men (or anyone) who are nervous about therapy or people who have had a bad experience with it tend to really like my down to earth style.

My approach to therapy is relational; through the therapeutic relationship , we can explore how to deepen your connection with yourself, and how to find meaning in your relationships with others.
Reaching out for support in navigating your deepest concerns takes courage. My education and experience has led me to a profound passion for the restoration of people. I value understanding how the human mind functions on a day to day basis. My education and experience in Marriage (Couple) and Family Therapy has led me to further expertise on topics including communication, conflict resolution, relationship issues, sex and stress within relationships. I believe therapy should never be seen as a failure, but rather as an avenue of growth and restoration.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
