I regularly work with helping Clients process trauma, relationship issues, anxiety, panic attacks, uncontrolled anger, life changes and internal judgement/criticism. The Clients who report the biggest impact tend to be ones who are ready to take responsibility for their own journey. We can spend an hour together, and accomplish a lot in that time- but ultimately, the ones who experience the most change and improvement, are people who are committed to the process of their own work.

Are you a woman who finds herself feeling constantly overwhelmed? Are you plagued by thoughts that no matter how hard you try you feel like you are disappointing those closest to you? If so, you are not alone. There are so many messages about what women should be doing, feeling and looking like that it's easy to forget what matters to us as individuals. From the start, we need to empower our girls to celebrate what makes them unique so that they are able to flourish through the teenage years. Most importantly, women need to be grounded in who they are to navigate the conflicting roles of professional, partner , mother and lover.

When our relationship gets stressful, we react - usually in the opposite way our partner does.
You've had the same conversation over and over. They want you to stop bringing up the past, and you would... if they listened to you! Your partner withdraws, shuts down, or blows up in anger. You feel unheard and dismissed, and they feel like you're impossible to please. You love each other, but you're tired of doing this. You want change. You aren't alone - thousands of couples have worked with me to break these cycles, improve communication, and get the spark back in their relationship .

An integral part of therapy is having a good relationship with your therapist - we all have different approaches and personalities.
You may be feeling stuck, emotionally overwhelmed and unsure of where to start, or perhaps you know exactly what you want to address in therapy. Some of my clients want to process past traumas or understand themselves on a deeper level, and others prefer to focus on working through present day challenges like work stress or family life. Regardless of where you are at, my goal is to support and guide you in working through difficult emotions or memories that are preventing you from living a life with meaning.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is built on trust, compassion, validation and acceptance.
I believe it takes courage to take this first step in reaching out for help. Life is full of challenges and roadblocks that can often be difficult to move past or face alone. In therapy we will work on things that are of concern to you and at a pace that feels right for you. I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, stress, grief, or relationship issues. My niche is in working with women struggling with infertility, pregnancy loss or postpartum challenges.

In our relationship together, we might work on experiencing safety and validation.
And your chest clenched for attention. Skin crawling desperation. To call in sick, or to stay in bed, or to numb out with distractions that you do not feel proud of. Maybe you feel nausea or fear or shame, or an emptiness that aches inside you. Or anxiety that rarely seems to settle. Maybe you have repetitive or consuming thoughts of how incompetent or unworthy you are. Maybe you just feel simply exhausted. People come to see me to move away from feelings of overwhelm, to begin to know and trust themselves (and others) again, to begin to feel better in their lives (as they define it).

People encounter problems in their lives and come into relationship with them. Sometimes problems stay around longer than people would like - sometimes even long enough that they start to see themselves as the problem. My approach follows the narrative therapy practice of externalizing and examining problems so that we can reveal their histories, their impacts, and also the ways you have resisted their unwanted influence on your life. This approach focuses on the active role you play in pursuing the life that you want, as well as the people and things that support you in that pursuit.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
