I am a clinical social worker with extensive knowledge in the area of mental health wellbeing, depression, general anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, women’s abuse and trauma. For the past 10 Years I have been providing individuals and groups with education and counselling on conflict resolution, personal boundaries, and effective communication. I have special training regarding parents and care giver skills and if your child is struggling with fear, helplessness or hopelessness, I can teach you the EFFT skills few sessions to respond to your child’s emotions to reduces the intensity of their pain, and learn new strategies.

We all experience challenges and hardships and often forget to show ourselves kindness. Psychotherapy allows clients to share and explore their experiences in a safe space where they can be validated and reminded of their strengths while working towards their individual goals. Every person is different and I strive to respect and honour individuality. I aim to get to know my clients better in order to better support them in achieving their goals and coping with the challenges that life throws at them.

We all face challenges from time to time. Sometimes, we are able to adequately handle the dilemma by ourselves. Sometimes, though, the problem is much too difficult, and we can use some help. At those times, it is good to know that the kind of help we need is available. It often takes courage to reach for help, particularly to participate in therapy which can feel disruptive and frightening. To be honest, it often is but can be less distressing by compassionate, non-judgmental support. I know it is not easy, but why not call for support anyhow? Using an integrative, client-centered approach, with elements of Narrative Therapy, CBT, EFT, etc., I primarily work through the exploration of relationship dynamics and patterns, addressing attachment wounds, and using a focus on emotions and cognition. By providing guidance to those facing challenges, I support the process of change during life transitions. Together we explore areas that may be causing symptoms, patterns of behaviour and learn how to accept your own feelings while creating a deeper sense of self. I coach and provide training on how to acquire or improve skills and strategies needed to regulate negative emotions, increase distress tolerance; and minimize and manage triggers.

I have been a marriage and family therapist since 1985. I train marriage and sex therapists. I am a registered sex therapist, a certified sex addiction therapist (CSAT) and I am trained in EMDR. I do CBT and focus on issues of anxiety, depression and ocd. I work with separating parents to complete Parenting Plans in mediation. I focus on providing direct, respectful counselling that is effective. The most important part of treatment is having an accurate assessment so we are working on the correct problem. I am flexible and have a good sense of humour.
