I specialize in attachment-based treatment and work extensively with individuals, couples and families using Emotionally Focus Therapy( EFT), an evidence-based treatment for mental health and relationship concerns.
I’m a registered psychotherapist, which simply means that I specialize in treating mental health and relationship issues for individuals, couples, families, and church leaders. I’d love to journey with you when you’re dealing with challenges are too big to handle on your own; things like: relationship issues, anxiety/panic, trauma & abuse, stress & burnout, low self-worth, guilt and shame, life and family transitions, and pornography addictions. If you feel discouraged and disoriented in your relationships or mental health, breathe easy knowing that your therapist has a road map in mind for your healing.

Silenced, invisible, unloved – A story written about you. It haunts you, and you feel it seeping into your everyday. You want to change, but you're not sure how. There’s a part of you that feels like you’re not living up to your full potential, yet another part that feels hopeless. Together, we will liberate you from this story to create a new chapter: one that helps you live up to your full potential, a life in which you feel deserving of being heard, seen and loved.

I facilitate this by drawing primarily from IFS, Attachment-based , and Mindfulness-based therapies.
Living in today’s world as a "big feeler", 2SLGBTQ+ person, ally, non-monogamous person, someone who uses substances, or someone who struggles with relationships, can feel exhausting and overwhelming. It can also feel hard to know who the safe supports are (the ones who won’t judge your experience or push you to embrace normative frameworks). You might be seeking support with trauma, anxiety, anger, inner criticism, trouble with boundaries, emotional dysregulation, harm reduction, identity issues, or feeling othered. Whatever your experiences are, I am proud of you for doing the brave thing of reaching out for help.

Trauma shows up in many different ways. Perhaps you’re experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, unexplained pain or illness, digestive issues, disturbing reminders of past events, past or current abuse or emotional numbness. Maybe you just haven't been able to shake the emotional effects of the pandemic on you and your family. With over 30 years of clinical experience providing psychotherapy services, I work with adults whose lives have been affected by such overwhelming feelings and situations, grief and loss, family and relationship concerns, emotional abuse, attachment wounds, intergenerational issues and workplace stressors.

I practice trauma-informed somatic & relational psychotherapy. Relational psychotherapy values how the relationships in our life, from birth to death, impact how we understand ourselves, each other, our connections, ruptures and how we engage in daily experiences. Body-centered therapy uses the body to access, resource and heal unresolved trauma. Developing somatic resources, increases our capacity to feel safe in our bodies, gain a deeper knowing of ourselves, feel resourced & to heal. Together we will explore, what's happening in your life, where you struggle, your hopes, and how to move towards healing & thriving.

I am not accepting new clients (waitlist for 2024). I am a friendly, non-judgemental, and genuinely want to support you in helping you feel better. As a humanistic and experiential therapist, I specialize in emotion and attachment. Often clients will come to therapy seeking help for a particular issue, however, once we start working together we usually discover hidden emotions that are associated with a different and more deeply rooted issue.

My education and experience has led me to a profound passion for the restoration of people. I value understanding how the human mind functions on a day to day basis. My education and experience in Marriage (Couple) and Family Therapy has led me to further expertise on topics including communication, conflict resolution, relationship issues, sex and stress within relationships. I believe therapy should never be seen as a failure, but rather as an avenue of growth and restoration.

Currently not accepting new clients. I work with individuals, couples, and families. I look to first create an environment where you feel comfortable in exploring what may be happening for you. It is not uncommon to feel stuck or feel uncertain of what you want from life. I look to explore areas of self to support you in cultivating self-value and attaining your hopes. As a relational therapist, I understand the importance of relationships. At times, you may be caught in patterns that create challenges for the level of connection or intimacy you desire, and I hope to support you in exploring new dynamics.

Attachment-based Counsellors

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
