ADHD, addiction, and life’s pressures can make everything feel overwhelming.
I help teens and adults with ADHD, addiction & sports performance challenges learn how to work with their brains, not against them. We’ll build strategies that actually stick—whether it’s managing impulses, improving focus, or breaking unhelpful habits. Therapy with me is practical, supportive, and maybe even a little fun. Relief is possible & it starts here

Living with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, or Addiction can feel like we're lost.
With years of front-line counselling, crisis, and addiction work, I’ve learned that real change comes when treatment is personalized. I believe that we all have the capacity to change, and therapy is about helping you see that, too. Using modern, science-based approaches, like IFS and Mindfulness, you'll safely and effectively let go of deep-seated pain.

Often, this struggle may lead to addiction, anxiety, depression, shame, suicidal ideation, poor relationships, grief, low self-esteem, or low self-worth.
In our work together, we will explore how you arrived at this part of your journey and identify unhelpful and destructive thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that have impacted your ability to live authentically and be true to yourself. We will develop goals and clarify values that are meaningful to you while focusing on your strengths, gifts, and assets.

Maybe you or someone you love is struggling with addiction.
Today, we live in a fast-paced, stressful world. The hardships of balancing our work, education and personal time becomes increasingly hard to achieve. Our responsibilities continue to grow and the world around us is becoming so demanding. Sometimes, to cope we use resources which may, in fact, be harmful to ourselves. Addictions are often felt as shameful and concealed from others. We are all vulnerable to making decisions that are not always in our best interest. I am not here to judge you, but rather provide useful tools which will help provide opportunities for making healthier choices.

I work effectively and comfortably with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, substance use and addiction, and general life stressors including transitions, grief and relationship breakdowns.
I am able to help clients identify core issues, and provide information and treatment to feel better. I tend to be more solution focused - replacing unhealthy coping strategies with positive and effective ones. I work with concrete goals to be able to evaluate your treatment plan, and more abstract outcomes like building self esteem, and reducing self hate.

I work with people who are experiencing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, grief & loss, and relationship challenges; and specialize in working with adults who have experienced trauma or difficult childhoods.
My approach to counselling is strengths based, client centred and collaborative. That means working with you to figure out what’s working well, and how to do more of it. Feelings can often become overwhelming, I help people find balance and meaning. Through our work together, we will explore patterns of thoughts and behaviours which may be keeping you stuck, as well as ways of coping that aren’t helpful. I empower people to make connections between early life experiences and who they are today, moving towards change and building on their resilience.

I work primarily with adults and adolescents and can provide support for a variety of mental health, behavioral or emotional conditions, including Anxiety, Depression, Substance Use Disorders, Relationship Problems and PTSD.
We all face challenges from time to time. Sometimes, we are able to adequately handle the dilemma by ourselves. Sometimes, though, the problem is much too difficult, and we can use some help. At those times, it is good to know that the kind of help we need is available. It often takes courage to reach for help, particularly to participate in therapy which can feel disruptive and frightening. To be honest, it often is but can be less distressing by compassionate, non-judgmental support. I know it is not easy, but why not call for support anyhow? A safe environment was created just for you. It would be my privilege to help.

What is the best therapy for addiction?

Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?

Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?

The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
