I specialize in shame recovery, trauma recovery, including developmental traumas and shock traumas, PTSD , vicarious trauma , burn out, anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, stress management, self esteem and self worth, boundary violations, assertiveness, grief and loss, life transitions, identity and spiritual crisis.
Stress, anxiety and depression can quickly take over our lives. This survival mode protects our authentic self yet, in the long term, creates disconnect and misery. I believe that we each have the innate ability to return to our authentic selves as we slowly re-connect to our body and change survival patterns. This belief drives me in collaborating with you to move into your own sense of aliveness. My genuine presence and sensitivity supports creating a safe space for you to start letting go of survival mode and try out a new way of being.

Not accepting new clients. Trauma , anxiety and depression can leave you feeling overwhelmed and isolated. Therapy can offer you a better way forward. My specialty is working with adults who are survivors of childhood abuse, trauma or neglect. I help my clients live more in the present that they want, rather than focus on fears from the past or worries about the future. As an experienced therapist, I've seen that when people can safely address the traumas in their life, they reduce their anxiety, depression, difficulty with relationships and trust, low self-esteem and overwhelming emotions, among other things.

Trauma can shake the way you interact with yourself, your loved ones and the world at large. I want to work with you to reconnect with yourself again. To feel safe enough to not just survive but to live. People living with trauma can carry a lot of shame and it can be difficult to talk about the things that you are facing. Therefore my goal as your therapist is to create a warm space for you to heal. In my work I embrace your natural gifts and incorporate creative forms of expression that come naturally to you into our therapeutic work.

My areas of specialty include PTSD , trauma , depression, anxiety, self-worth, men's issues, and spirituality.
Trauma , depression, and other mental health issues can often cause individuals to become "stuck" leading to feelings of resignation or hopelessness. It can often feel like the individual is at the bottom of a well which keeps getting deeper, with the light out feeling further and further out of reach. It can lead individuals to believe that there is no path forwards, or that any path forward is one devoid of meaning or fulfillment.

I work with children and adolescents struggling with trauma or regulation-based concerns, and their families. Trauma -informed care strives to create physical, psychological, and emotional safety for individuals with every contact. Trauma -informed care moves away from a "what's wrong with you" perspective and seeks to determine "what's happened" and how best we can move forward collaboratively in a safe, strengths-based way.

You get decades of experience with individuals struggling with addiction, trauma , and conflict.
Are you seeking an alternative way of healing and ready to explore? Open to letting go of old hurts in order to experience a breakthrough? You desire to release your old patterns of behaviour and are seeking a therapist that will partner with you by listening deeply, challenging you, and celebrating with you. You are motivated to do the work to get the results you’ve always wanted (in individual or group sessions). I work with women who serve others in healing arts and business. I use evidence-based and complementary techniques across many perspectives, from brain-body based to the transpersonal, including trauma -focused, psychodynamic, somatic, and imaginal strategies.
Reaching out for help takes courage and finding the right therapist can be daunting. As a highly empathetic and collaborative therapist, I understand the importance of a good fit and treat each client as a unique individual and expert on their own life. I trust that, with support, you can feel empowered enough to tackle your challenge, whether that be managing an overwhelming situation or symptoms of anxiety or depression, clearing unwanted patterns, resolving past issues, or perhaps finding a deeper sense of life purpose. As a highly sensitive person, I can also help fellow HSPs better understand and work with their unusual traits.

I am a Registered Clinical Psychological Associate who has been providing psychological services to adults with a range of difficulties and diagnoses including PTSD , anxiety and mood disorders, addiction, self-esteem issues, and stress related difficulties for more than 25 years.
Life isn't always easy. It is full of stressors big and small. Some are predictable. Others are totally unexpected. And some are cumulative in that we don't even know that we are being impacted until that day that we hit the wall and find that we just aren't functioning the way we want. We try everything we know to get through tough times, to change how we are feeling, acting, and thinking, but sometimes we need a little extra help.

Art Therapy Guelph supports children, teens and adults online and in person. Clients seek our help for big life transitions (divorce, moving, loss, traumatic events), stress, anxiety, depression, and/or PTSD . We offer a safe space to unpack emotions, feelings, experiences and bad memories. We use a combination of psychotherapy, positive coping tools and artmaking in sessions. Don’t worry you need not be creative or artistic to participate. It is simply free expression using art materials. The best part is that art therapy helps when words fail. If you don’t know where to begin, don’t worry we will be with you every step of the way.

This fall, I am increasing my private practice hours to offer therapy to people who need more than what they can access through short term services. I have worked in mental health and employee assistance programs (EAP), and enjoy doing longer term therapy. Primarily, I work with adults who are struggling with mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and trauma , couples with relationship concerns, and people who have life changes they are working through. In my practice, I take an anti-oppression, culturally informed stance to peoples' issues and experiences. I am committed to ongoing professional development.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
