I believe in, and have extensive expertise in using evidence-based practices (EMDR, ERP/ExRP) to treat PTSD, anxiety, and OCD.
Living with anxiety can be debilitating, as can the effects of trauma that has not been processed or is "stuck". Life becomes smaller and smaller as it robs you of your ability to engage in the life you want to live. Seeking help, is a huge first step. There is hope, and I can help you to live life to its fullest, according to your own values and what matters most.

If you are struggling with anxiety, stress, PTSD, insomnia, OCD, depression, or other emotional problems, or if you are looking to make changes in your life, our team of warm and supportive professionals will work together with you to help you reach your goals.
Guelph CBT provides only the highest quality evidence-based treatments. Given our name, you may have guessed that our treatment focus is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), though we offer other forms of therapy if they have been supported by the best research evidence. Why is this so important? We know that no therapy can be effective if it is not based on a solid foundation of warmth, empathy, and trust. This is why we go out of our way to make you feel welcome, supported, and understood. We will work collaboratively with you in a warm and compassionate manner to help you reach your goals. In addition, we also know that the specific ingredients, or the type of therapy provided, matters as much in determining how effective and efficient our treatment will be. “Evidence-based” simply means that these therapies have been designed, tested, and shown to work in randomized clinical trials, and continually improved through ongoing clinical research. Therefore, you can be confident that you are receiving the highest quality of treatments that are both cost effective and clinically effective. That way, you can spend less time in therapy and more time living!

Having managed anxiety and OCD since childhood, I understand how isolating the cycle of obsessive thoughts and anxious feelings can be.
I specialize in helping adults navigate anxiety, OCD, unhealthy habits, and relationship difficulties. Perhaps you’re questioning your use of substances or technology to cope with stress, or maybe you recognize painful attachment patterns that leave you feeling unfulfilled in your relationships. We can work collaboratively to explore the root causes.

I often work with people experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, or OCD.
You want to work through stress, anxiety, and trauma. You feel stuck and out of options. You know life shouldn't feel this hard, but you can't figure out why you're triggered by the smallest things. You find yourself doing and saying things you're ashamed of, but don't know why you do them or how to stop. Your emotions feel too overwhelming or you feel completely numbed out. You’re at a breaking point and need a place to become grounded, where things can begin to make sense, and where you can heal and learn to live again.

I have received specialized training and have expertise in treating anxiety, obsessive-compulsive (e.g., OCD, trichotillomania, skin picking), depression and bipolar, and trauma-related (i.e., PTSD) disorders.
I primarily work from a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) framework. CBT is a short-term evidence-based treatment for a range of psychological difficulties. However, I also incorporate Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness-based treatments when indicated.

I have experience with/special interests in OCD, trauma, identity work, and neurodivergence (ASD/ADHD).
My work is rooted in holding space for healing that is whole-person, heart-led, and grounded in compassion. I believe that therapy is a collaborative relationship—one where you are met with curiosity, not judgment, and where your truth is honoured without condition. Together, we create a space where you can feel seen, supported, and safely connected to your own wisdom. I draw from an integrative, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and harm-reduction approach, blending evidence-based practices with a deep respect for individual intuition.

I often tell my clients that what they hear from me will be counter cultural. It is counter cultural in the sense that I talk about self-acceptance and worth regardless of size. I believe hope exists even when you can't see it, that mental health issues are not a sign of weakness and that I practice in a way that believes in change.

I integrate Brainspotting, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and other evidence-based approaches to help you heal from anxiety, depression, PTSD, panic attacks, OCD, disordered eating, relationship struggles, and other patterns that keep you feeling stuck.
It might be hard to imagine what “better” could feel like — a life free from constant anxiety, depression, panic, or the heaviness of past experiences. You may have learned skills to manage symptoms, but no one told you that real healing is possible. I help people move beyond coping to actually resolving the root causes of their struggles. Together, we work to release the ways your body has held onto the past so you can feel lighter, calmer, and more present. With the right tools and support, change can happen faster than you think — and it can last.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
