I believe that effective therapy takes place in an atmosphere of safety, respect, and caring. When a person comes to therapy, a healing process is already underway. As this process is recognized and strengthened, the client is free to move toward wholeness. I use empathic listening and questions to help clarify the presenting problem and set it in the context of the person's life journey with its healthy call for spiritual and psychological growth. Writing, guided visualization, role playing and art may also be used to bring forth inner wisdom and to explore alternative ways to meet challenges.

Now offering EMDR. Trauma can shake the way you interact with yourself, your loved ones and the world at large. I want to work with you to reconnect with yourself again. To feel safe enough to not just survive but to live. People living with trauma can carry a lot of shame and it can be difficult to talk about the things that you are facing. Therefore my goal as your therapist is to create a warm space for you to heal. In my work I embrace your natural gifts and incorporate creative forms of expression that come naturally to you into our therapeutic work.

Our lives are filled with contradictions: we have intimate relationships and yet we find ourselves holding back in different ways; we notice intense inner yearnings for change but struggle to move beyond the same patterns and repetitions. You may be coming to therapy with one particular issue in mind that you want to explore, or perhaps you're bringing a general sense of unease that you find yourself in. Often times what initially brings us to work with someone can lead to many unexpected areas of exploration.

When life gives you lemons you don't HAVE to make lemonade - you can also reach out to me! I know how disorienting it can be when the work, relationships, and spaces that've anchored us suddenly break down. I know the emotional rollercoaster that can follow and keep us stuck in the same loops, separating us from who we thought we were, the life we'd been working towards, or the world we once knew. I get it; I've been there. It's why I feel strongly about creating a space where you don't have to have all the answers, and where you can be your full self, even as you're in the midst of a great unravelling.

Facing everyday challenges is not always easy; however, when we come to better understand what is happening within us and in our lives, we are much better equipped to make changes. I believe therapy is a wonderful avenue to support this journey, and I consider it a deep privilege to support people through life’s highs and lows. I see my role as one of helping people to take on the challenge of navigating life with greater ease and grace. Together, we can find strength, hope, and healing, no matter what you might be facing.

Drawing on mind-body connections, I encourage individuals to dig deep as they learn to accept and trust their emotions. Focusing on the "here and now", I support individuals to see how the past is intricately linked to their present experience. I am passionate about helping adults and adolescents (16+) struggling with anxiety, depression, body image, and codependency. Having worked extensively with families, youth, and adults, I understand the challenges individuals can face in working through issues at home, at school/work, and between peers. I offer services both in-person and online to suit your preference.

Hi, I’m Chloe. It’s okay if you’re not sure what you need yet or what therapy is “supposed” to be like (spoiler: there's no one right way!). Whatever brought you here, I’m so glad you’ve landed on this page. I hope this gives you a sense of who I am and whether we might be a good fit.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
