Finding a solution to our problems requires an authentic relationship, openness to the diversity of experience, creativity, and humility.
I recognize that life is complex, and so are the issues we live with. Whether it be a significant change, like losing a loved one, or tension within a meaningful relationship, it can feel overwhelming and hopeless trying to find our way through these challenges. I believe that we have the solutions to solve our problems within us and, at times, this requires us to reach out for support to uncover the answers to overcome these problems. From there, we seek to understand how we can learn from these hard times to strengthen ourselves and our relationships and find meaning from our experiences.

I specialize in couples therapy using research from the Gottman Sound Relationship House Theory, and integrate other modalities such as emotionally focused therapy.
Life can often throw some unexpected curve balls our way. When upsets happen, it can be hard to cope. It can be challenging to find purpose and meaning in the midst of pain and disapppointment. We often end up feeling sad, angry, resentful, anxious and undone. We can often feel like there is no hope or that no one cares and, as a result, engage in negative thinking and harmful behaviours. You have strengths and values within you that we can explore to help you be the best you. I use a collaborative, client-centered and non-judgemental approach to help navigate through the issues that are of concern to you.

Accepting New Clients: In-Person & Phone/Video. We believe that there is good in every person, and hope in every situation. We have helped individuals, couples, and families heal, grow, and connect. As relational therapists, we appreciate the impact that our relationships have on our well-being. We do not see clients as having something wrong with their minds that necessarily needs to be fixed. Rather, we see our clients as unique individuals, each with their own stories and perspectives, embedded in important relationships and contexts that impact them. We see strengths and we see hope, even when it feels like there is none.

I strive to maintain a primary focus on relationship development and nurturance within the therapeutic setting, moving beyond the therapeutic modality employed, toward a partnership built on mutual respect.

I work with adults who want freedom from negative patterns and who want to get to the root of repetitive reactivity and triggers. They want calm and peace. They want help with healthy boundaries, anxiety, self-worth, depression, life direction, co-dependency, communication, addiction, relationships (with self, the Divine, life partner, ex- partner, children, family, co-workers), emotional regulation, grief, loss/divorce, chronic pain, parenting, spiritual growth and psychedelic integration. Carrying the past makes current life difficult. Helping clients accept the past, learn from it and then let it go is what I love doing best.

The three pillars of my work are mindfulness, holistic approach, and the prioritization of relationship.
Most people who come to me are struggling with challenges that fall into one of four main categories: 1) anxiety, and other struggles with emotional regulation, 2) relationship difficulties, with family, friends, stress, work, nature, society, spirituality, and oneself, 3) direction, related to life purpose or career, and 4) depression, and grief-related challenges. I work with adult individuals (16 and up) and couples seeking guidance, support, and tools to help navigate life struggles with more self-awareness and agency. I also offer individual and group clinical supervision to therapists.

In addition to having a Master of Social Work and training in multiple evidence-based approaches for both individuals and couples, I have years of experience as a mindfulness teacher, all of which can help you rediscover connection to your inner self.
When life’s challenges feel like they’ve become too much, you might find that you’re struggling to manage work, relationships and parenting; you may feel isolated and have difficulty connecting with your partner; perhaps you feel stuck in the same old thoughts and behavioural patterns; or you have a hard time recognizing your old self. When this happens, knowing which way to turn, or reaching out for support can feel daunting.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
