I take an integrative approach to practice, that combines emotion-focused therapy with feminist, trauma-informed, and attachment-based frameworks, and techniques from DBT and somatic approaches.
You might feel stuck, small, or unsure who you really are. You’re exhausted by anxiety, people-pleasing, or just surviving. Something’s missing, but you’re not sure what. As a queer, neurodivergent trauma survivor, I get how hard it is to prioritize your healing. But you don’t have to stay here. Together, we can gently uncover the parts of you that got pushed aside, and begin rebuilding a life that fits.

With over ten years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals as they work through anxiety, depression, and the effects of trauma, including intergenerational trauma. I support clients in exploring relationship challenges, identity, and the many transitions and stressors that life can bring. I also have extensive experience supporting families, and in my current practice, I work with parents who want to build stronger, more connected relationships with their children, while finding balance in daily routines, emotional regulation, and communication.

People often come to therapy with experiences such as anxiety, emotional distress, relationship difficulties, or a sense of feeling overwhelmed or disconnected. Sometimes these concerns are clear, and sometimes they feel harder to name. Many notice recurring patterns in their lives, finding themselves in similar dynamics without fully understanding why. I think of therapy as a process that can open up the possibility of repairing disrupted connections with ourselves, others, and the world. It is a space where one’s story can be heard and felt more closely, and where the relationship to that story can gradually shift and transform.

Facing everyday challenges is not always easy; however, when we come to better understand what is happening within us and in our lives, we are much better equipped to make changes. I believe therapy is a wonderful avenue to support this journey, and I consider it a deep privilege to support people through life’s highs and lows. I see my role as one of helping people to take on the challenge of navigating life with greater ease and grace. Together, we can find strength, hope, and healing, no matter what you might be facing.

A client asked me once: Is therapy just TALKING?  In a way it is.  Just talking ... words, words, words. Sometimes words are meaningless and pointless.  They lead to conflicts, misunderstandings, hurt, pain, crises.  What could happen when words are meaningful, relevant, clear, aimed at understanding you and the other?  What difference would it make when the right words are spoken, and they are heard at the right time? Would they make your wants, needs, wishes and dreams more real and attainable?

I was trained in Gestalt therapy, so part of my approach involves providing a space that supports awareness, authenticity and experimentation. I believe warmth, trust, and curiosity go a long way when connecting with someone. I've also worked a lot within the Internal Family Systems framework, and in helping people with attachment repair and relationship disturbances. Whichever way of working ends up being best for you, I'm here to help you on your journey of self-discovery and in actualizing your potential.

Accepting New Clients - Reaching out for support is a courageous and empowering decision, and I am here to ensure you don’t have to carry your burdens alone. I believe therapy is a true partnership, not something "done" to you, but a journey we build together at a pace that feels right for you. Sometimes, the gap between our logical thoughts and our deep emotions can leave us feeling fractured. Together, we will work to bridge that gap, reconnecting with your inner child and healing the parts of you that have been wounded or overlooked.

Building connections with ourselves and others is one of the most important components of a fulfilling life. However, negative messages from the world and our past experiences/ traumas can often make us feel like we are not good enough. This negative self-talk and self-doubt can make it difficult to form meaningful connections and enjoy life the way we want to, leaving us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, confused, or stuck.

We all need and deserve connection - connection to people, to purpose and, most importantly, to ourselves. In our busy lives, we sometimes bypass this need, or seek it out in relationships, activities and thinking patterns that leave us feeling anxious, exhausted and lonely. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, a life transition or a loss, I would love to walk with you to create a supportive environment for healing, growth and change.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, confused or disconnected? I bring both academic and lived experience into my therapeutic work and understand how deeply complex, layered and confusing our personal struggles can be-often making us feel like we are alone and nobody really understands us. These challenges can make us feel very overwhelmed, confused or anxious when we are faced with challenges in life.

Each client has their own lived experience that they bring to the therapy space. Our goal is to work together to notice how past experiences may effect the present moment. By identifying patterns and emotions the client and I can navigate their experience of the world today and orient it to the desired present moment. Understanding there is no limit to how we can connect to and love ourself is a helpful place to start. Mindfulness, CBT, DBT and psychodynamic therapy are the primary modalities I use. Each of these has their own helpful flavor of therapy.

Attachment-based Counsellors
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
