Therapists for Adults in Guelph, ON
As a late-diagnosed mum of neurodivergent children (now adults) I know what it's like navigating life in a neuro-complex home and have experienced the benefit of receiving my own support from someone else who understands.
Are you a parent feeling overwhelmed as you navigate the complexities of an Autism and/or ADHD diagnosis with your child? Do you feel alone in your journey of parenting a neurodivergent child, or as a neurodivergent parent? Many families experience the emotional highs and lows of these diagnoses often feeling isolated. Through Art Psychotherapy, I support parents and/or their children communicate and connect through a neurodiversity affirming lens informed by lived experience and education. By embracing creativity, we create a space where you and your child can thrive. Let's journey together towards understanding and acceptance.

I specialize in working with adult survivors of complex trauma, often stemming from childhood experiences.
It can be hard to know what's wrong when it feels like nothing has ever been right. Unfortunately, this is an all too familiar experience for survivors of complex trauma. If you grew up in a damaging environment, you had to develop ingenious ways of surviving. However, you're no longer that child and feel just surviving isn't enough, but the past won't let you move on—your suffering is not your fault. What helped you in the past may now be hindering your growth. It's time to rewrite your narrative. Join me, and together, we can make sense of the chaos. We can't undo the past's grave injustices, but we can take away their power.

One million Canadian men suffer from major depressive disorder each year. Three of every four completed suicides in Canada are by men. The prevalence of alcohol use disorder is twice as high in men with another mental health diagnosis than in the general population. One third of Canadian men worry that talking about mental health at work could put their job at risk. Men are just as likely as women to have mental health issues yet are far less likely to utilize traditional mental health services. Men are more likely to believe that mental health services are difficult to access, ineffective and invasive. At Cogent, Ontario’s new mental health clinic focussed solely on supporting men, we’re changing that.

I provide individual and couple therapy for adults, parental coaching, and professional consultation for psychotherapists.
A client asked me once: Is therapy just TALKING? In a way it is. Just talking ... words, words, words. Sometimes words are meaningless and pointless. They lead to conflicts, misunderstandings, hurt, pain, crises. What could happen when words are meaningful, relevant, clear, aimed at understanding you and the other? What difference would it make when the right words are spoken, and they are heard at the right time? Would they make your wants, needs, wishes and dreams more real and attainable?

I work using both somatic (body) as well as talk therapies (psycho dynamic). I find this combination to be more profound than just one modality. I bring extensive experience with mental illness and trauma. Like most therapists, I have several areas of practice in which I feel distinctly equipped to work. These include anxiety, depression, recovery from interpersonal trauma/ abuse, neglect, communication issues (for e.g. bosses, friends, partners. family members) stress of everyday life, grief, couple issues, childhood attachment issues, PTSD and dissociative disorders.

I’m passionate about working with women who are navigating the emotional complexities of pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood. I understand how overwhelming it can feel to juggle the demands of motherhood, relationships, and self-identity. The challenges of this life transition can be unexpected, creating feelings of anxiety, sadness, self-criticism, guilt, loneliness and resentment. It's easy to feel like you are not doing enough in a society that has constant parenting advice and impossible expectations. If you are feeling the weight of all of this, you deserve a space to process and make sense of it all.

On the outside, it looks like you’re thriving—a solid career, big goals, and a busy life. But inside, it’s another story. You’re juggling demanding work responsibilities and family dynamics that sometimes feel impossible to balance. The pressure to succeed professionally while managing relationships, parenting, or family expectations leaves you stretched thin. Your mind races with anxiety, focus is hard to maintain, and unresolved emotions resurface at the worst times. Between work stress, personal struggles, and feeling pulled in every direction, you’re starting to wonder how long you can keep this up.

It can be hard to retain your emotional balance when you face challenges. Sometimes the first step to finding solid ground is talking about it with someone who understands. My goal is to offer this by listening to your story with care and sensitivity, helping you to uncover your inner wisdom.
I believe safe and caring relationships (with people, and nature) are essential to personal growth and resilience. My approach to therapy is practical and tailored to what you need to strengthen these relationships. This may include exploring your defenses, values, strengths and what you find meaningful to support you on your journey.
