I can help! I offer clinical counselling for children and teens, as well as coaching and consulting for caregivers.
Are you raising a child or teen who is struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or aggression? Are you at a loss for how to respond to their emotional outbursts or behaviours without using threats, bribes, or punishment? You've read books, articles, or social media posts that claim to have the solutions to your problem, but fail to get you results. You have an overwhelming amount of information and advice, BUT your still left wondering what to do, where to go, or how to start. You want an approach that feels realistic, and tools that are practical because you are busy managing many different responsibilities.

I frequently hear from the people I support, that it feels like no one is really listening. Our existing relationships often don’t allow us to be SEEN and HEARD accurately, in the way that we need to be seen and heard. My goal as a therapist, is to offer a compassionate, non-judgmental presence, where you can feel seen, heard, and valued. It is my belief that through a collaborative counselling relationship we can start to become more connected to ourselves, as well as to those around us.

I welcome working with teens and children.
I believe that everyone deserves to invest in their well being and personal growth. We are all impacted by our past, our current environment and our relationships with others. With an investment in yourself, you can move toward positive outcomes that reflect personal goals and values. Counselling is an investment in every part of your life: as a partner, parent, friend, or professional. I believe in stepping into a place of agency in terms of creating the life you want and deserve to be living. I have helped many do just that and am grateful for the benefits we all receive when healing and joy ripple out into the world.

Life can be challenging, but you don't have to navigate it alone. As a psychotherapist, I specialize in individual, couples, and family therapy with a focus on helping clients feel deeply understood and supported. My approach integrates parts work, which allows us to explore different aspects of yourself, fostering self-acceptance and healing without judgment. My goal is not to change who you are but to help you embrace and appreciate yourself more fully. In therapy, I create a compassionate and safe space where we can explore concerns such as addictions, anxiety, and grief.

Teen Counsellors

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
