Therapists for Teens and Adolescents in Greely, ON
ACT forms the foundation of my work, adapted for each client using trauma-informed techniques, adolescent-specific approaches, and ecotherapy principles.
You hold it together at work, show up for everyone else — but anxiety, grief, or a major life change has quietly taken over. You know something needs to change, even if you can't quite name what yet.
My clients are Ottawa-area professionals, caregivers, and young adults navigating big transitions. High achievers who feel stuck despite doing everything right. Helping professionals and public servants running on empty. Parents adjusting to an empty nest, or adult children supporting aging parents through change. People who are emotionally intelligent, deeply self-aware, and ready for real, lasting growth — not just symptom relief.

Real change, healing, and growth happens from the inside out. This is a process of mutual empowerment that occurs through our genuine relationships, as we bring parts of ourselves and hidden parts of our experience into the light of a compassionate awareness. In psychotherapy we can create an authentic space of acceptance to explore life's troubles with compassion, curiosity, and courage. Together we may discover, become, heal, and grow. Whatever brings you to psychotherapy, it is with respect and gratitude that I commit to walk beside you on this path. "A journey of a thousand miles begins where one is and taking a single step."

Hello. I'm Robert Fierro, a registered social worker practicing as a psychotherapist on on the traditional and un-ceded territory of the Anishnaabeg nation. - I came to my practice as a result of a profound curiosity into how the mind copes with difficult experiences and I believe that we can come to a deeper and more integrated understanding of ourselves and each other by exploring these experiences in the present moment with a trusted partner. I can say with certainty this happens outside of therapy, and that at times therapy is a critical to the healing process.

What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
