My personal, professional, and academic experiences have shaped my approach to Psychotherapy and strengthened my ability to maintain a warm, attentive, safe, and non-judgmental space. I take an integrative approach to working with individuals, which is informed by humanistic, relational, psychodynamic, attachment-based, mindfulness-based, and trauma-informed theories. I believe in building a consistent and stable therapeutic relationship, which becomes the basis from which we can explore deeper and more complex topics.

Warmest welcome to You and all your parts! We come into being; We grow, we rest; We get hurt, we heal; We laugh, we grieve; We connect, we withdraw; We try our best... If you are trying to find something within yourself... something calm, or confident, or compassionate, or creative and playfulness... If you have a sense that something inside you is trying to heal... If some part of you has, in a sense, 'hijacked' your life and you want to reclaim a sense of agency over your well-being, functioning, and relationships... What I offer is a space, a laboratory of sorts, where you can get to know all these different parts

My approach is integrative and responsive. I draw from a range of therapeutic perspectives, including Adlerian, Existential, Narrative, person-centred, and cognitive behavioural approaches, and tailor our work to what feels most helpful and meaningful for you. At the heart of my practice is a deep curiosity about the patterns that shape how we relate to ourselves and others, the meanings we make of our experiences, and the ways family, culture, and environment influence our wellbeing.

I work with people carrying grief, including the complicated kind that follows a suicide loss. I also work with people who feel stuck in their relationships, whether that's a pattern of pursuing a partner who keeps pulling away, untangling what ADHD is doing to a marriage, or recovering from a boss or workplace that left them anxious and seriously doubting themselves. I also work with entrepreneurs who are burnt out and tired of the financial rollercoaster. Underneath a lot of this is a fear people don't always say out loud: that this is just how it will always be, and that they'll end up alone or that nothing actually changes.

I have been involved in the counsellin field for more than 36 year and bring a wealth of experience working with youth, families and individuals for over two decades.
As an immigrant,I have a clear understanding of the problems an immigrant may encounter after having moved away from their home country. Without the support of an established network of friends and family, cultural identity, workplace problems, strained family relationships can result in feelings of anger, disappointment and hopelessness.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
