Reaching out for support can be one of the most difficult steps in the healing process—and I hold deep respect for the courage it takes to do so. I strive to meet every client with empathy, compassion, and non-judgment, creating a space where they feel truly seen and heard. My approach to therapy is client-centered and collaborative, shaped by each individual’s unique needs, values, and goals. I draw on both my clinical training and life experiences to support clients in exploring themselves more fully, navigating challenges, and moving toward meaningful growth and self-discovery.

Trauma is defined as an experience that overwhelms the person's ability to cope at the time of the experience. This can range from being bullied as a child, divorce or loss of a job, and the more classically understood life-threatening events (natural disasters, war, near-death experience). I'm am trained to deal with not only accute and recent trauma resulting in flashbacks and nightmares (reliving experiences) but also in childhood developmental, sexual, and complex trauma which have more complex impacts on how we cope daily, our personality, beliefs, everything in between. Let's make changes together.

I've trained in trauma-informed care, DBT, and approaches for anxiety and ADHD.
Parenting a teenager who seems anxious, overwhelmed, or burned out can leave you wondering how to help without making things worse. Many of the youth I work with are bright, sensitive, and capable, yet internally they’re struggling to keep up with school, relationships, and the pressure they feel to “hold it together.” These experiences often show up quietly and can begin to affect mood, confidence or daily life for teens. I specialize in working with youth and teens ages 12–18 who experience anxiety, school stress, emotional overwhelm, friendship challenges, family relationship difficulties, and concerns related to self-esteem.

Reaching out for therapy can feel overwhelming. You might be used to handling things on your own, pushing through, or telling yourself it’s “not that bad.” But if anxiety, low mood, trauma, stress, relationship struggles, or coping habits like emotional eating or substance use are taking a toll, you don’t have to navigate it alone. Change is hard — and it takes real courage to begin. I offer a safe, supportive, and confidential space where you can slow down, feel understood, and start moving toward the life you want.

I tend to blend several powerful therapeutic approaches: Parts work to harmonize different aspects of yourself; Polyvagal Theory to understand your nervous system's response to stress and safety; DBT skills for emotional regulation; and Narrative Therapy to help you rewrite limiting stories and discover preferred ways of being.
You might feel unanchored and heartbroken after a death or a loss, or maybe you’re trying to rediscover who you truly are after years of being what others expected of you. Imagine the possibilities that could unfold if you had the right support during this difficult time. You don’t have to go through this alone. Let's welcome all of the unique parts of your Self, and create a plan to support you moving forward. The “good,” the “bad,” and the “weird” are all welcome here. Spoiler alert: no parts of us are "bad" they're just misguided strategies.

In my therapeutic approach, I individualize treatment by integrating methods from different modalities such as cognitive (CBT, DBT, ACT), narrative, humanistic, person-centred and feminist therapies.

I might be the therapist for you if you want to work on your boundaries, perfectionism, critical self-talk, burnout and relationships with friends, family and/or partner(s).

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Counsellors
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
