I am currently accepting new clients! - Are you a preteen, teen or young adult that feels as if life is kicking your butt? You don't know how to feel with the stress and anxiety of everyday life? Or, you don't know how to make the right plans to set you up for the rest of your life? Going through life is tough, and sometimes no-one else understands, or will not give the time of day to listen. Each of us carries a story shaped by the experiences, relationships, cultures, and environments that have influenced who we are today. Sometimes, parts of that story can leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about what comes next. Whether you are navigating depression, anxiety, difficult emotions, relationship concerns, or a major life change, therapy can help you understand how you arrived here and where you would like to go. I work with children and adults, with a particular interest in men’s mental health, to explore these experiences, uncover patterns, and create real change that reflects your values.

You may be feeling overwhelmed with feelings and thoughts you can't describe and are finding it hard to cope. Or, you may be a parent who wants to support your child/teen who is struggling with his/her emotions. Sometimes, it is hard to describe experiences that you, yourself, may difficult to understand. You may feel alone in your experience and fear that no one will be able to relate. It's exhausting. Or, as a parent, you may be noticing changes in your child/teen that are concerning and it is hard to see him/her struggling.

You may be navigating big transitions, identity questions, or relationship patterns that leave you feeling anxious, down, or not fully yourself. I support teens (13+) and adults who are dealing with overwhelm, low mood, grief, self-doubt, and the pressures of school, work, family, and community expectations. This can look like feeling stuck, people-pleasing, withdrawing, acting out, or repeating dynamics that do not feel good, even when you hope for something different. Together, we make sense of what is happening and explore what healing and change could look like for you.

Sometimes, all we need is to have someone be there with us, to share the difficulties that life often holds, and to provide a warm space within which we can thrive. With an empathetic and person-centered approach to therapy, I will dedicate myself to providing a therapeutic space where you can feel heard, seen, and understood. Through therapy together I hope that you can find the hope and meaning you need to heal as an individual and build the lasting change that you would like to work towards.

You're holding...a lot! Maybe you're raising a child with a disability or neurodivergence while quietly running on empty. Maybe you're navigating the gap between the culture you grew up in and the life you're building now, and nobody around you quite understands the weight of that. You keep showing up for everyone else. Therapy is a place to finally show up for yourself. Drawing on over 10 years of front-line experience, I work with caregivers, young adults, and people carrying the unique complexity of immigrant and multicultural identity: the code-switching, family obligations, and the feeling of never fully belonging.

You may feel anxious and awkward when you are seeking help. You may come from a social or professional environment where there is significant stigma around mental health, or the idea having a therapist feels strange to you. I have been there myself, do not worry those feelings are completely normal.

As an Iranian-Canadian therapist-in-training, I know firsthand what it can feel like to live between cultures, identities, and the different expectations of who we are supposed to be. Growing up in a multicultural family shaped my curiosity about people, belonging, and how our relationships and cultural experiences influence how we understand ourselves. My background in Sociology deepened this curiosity and eventually led me to pursue an MA in Theology, specializing in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy. These experiences continue to shape the kind of therapist I hope to be: warm, curious, culturally mindful, and attentive.

Many of my clients are high-functioning people quietly carrying the weight of anxiety, unresolved trauma, or grief. They are managing well on the outside. Inside, something has shifted and they know it. They come to me when they want more than someone to talk to. They want a clinician who will actually do the work with them. I returned to private practice after years in organizational leadership because this room, with one person in it, is where real change happens. I bring 25 years of clinical depth, EMDR certification, and a genuine commitment to getting it right for you specifically. In-person and virtual, across Ontario.

FAQ - About Multiracial Counselling
Why might mixed race or multiracial identity be important to address in therapy?
Mixed race or multiracial identity can shape how you understand yourself and relate to others around you, so it is natural that this identity may be important to speak about in therapy. If you identify as mixed race, you may find it helpful to speak with a therapist about identity, belonging, racism, cultural disconnection, or feeling pressure to “choose” one part of your background over another. A therapist who understands or shares your mixed race identity may be better able to support conversations about your experiences. A shared background may also strengthen the therapeutic alliance, which refers to the working relationship between you and your therapist and is tied to positive therapy outcomes.

How can a mixed race therapist support couples counselling or family therapy?
Like other therapists, mixed race therapists can support couples and families with a broad range of concerns, including communication challenges, conflict, parenting, life transitions, and relationship stress. However, therapists who personally identify as mixed race may be especially helpful when race, culture, or ethnicity are part of the concerns being discussed, such as when partners come from different cultural backgrounds and are navigating differing personal or community expectations. A mixed race therapist may also help couples and families explore how identity shapes each person’s experience in the relationship. Family members, for instance, may not experience race or culture in the same way, even within the same household. Therapy can offer a space to talk through these differences.

How might I inquire about a therapist's experience working with mixed race or multiracial clients?
The initial consultation, which is typically a brief phone or video call, can be a good time to ask about a therapist’s experience working with multiracial clients. You can ask specific questions, such as “Do you have experience working with multiracial clients?” or broader questions, such as “How do you approach cultural identity in your practice?” As sessions begin, it can be helpful to notice how the therapist responds to your concerns. A good therapist should respond with respect, curiosity, and cultural humility. If you feel dismissed or misunderstood, or if you find yourself having to explain your beliefs or cultural context constantly, it may be worth considering another therapist.

Who is included in Psychology Today's directory of mixed race therapists?
The directory of mixed race therapists includes therapists who have shared their mixed race or multiracial identity in their profiles, as well as therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with mixed race clients, regardless of their own background. Not all therapists choose to disclose this information on their profile, and these individuals may not appear in search results for this reason.
