One million Canadian men suffer from major depressive disorder each year. Three of every four completed suicides in Canada are by men. The prevalence of alcohol use disorder is twice as high in men with another mental health diagnosis than in the general population. One third of Canadian men worry that talking about mental health at work could put their job at risk. Men are just as likely as women to have mental health issues yet are far less likely to utilize traditional mental health services. Men are more likely to believe that mental health services are difficult to access, ineffective and invasive. At Cogent, Ontario’s new mental health clinic focussed solely on supporting men, we’re changing that.

You feel things deeply, sometimes too deeply. One moment you’re okay, the next you’re overwhelmed. The smallest shift in someone’s tone can send you spiralling into self-doubt, panic, or shame. You might find yourself stuck in all-or-nothing thinking, feeling like people either love you or they’ll leave. You’re tired of being so reactive, exhausted from the emotional rollercoaster, and desperate for stability, but you also want to feel fully alive. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and you’re not broken.

Accepting new clients. Are you feeling overwhelmed, stretched too thin, or quietly carrying more than others can see? Often, my clients feel stuck in anxiety, low mood, work/life stress, or grief. Many are navigating maternal mental health (pregnancy, postpartum, infertility), parenting challenges, or the complexities of raising children, including teens. Others are adolescents themselves navigating the complexities of life at their age. Therapy offers a space where you don’t have to hold it all alone. Together, we slow things down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and gently begin to move toward more ease and balance.

Hi, I'm Kourtney from KR Therapy Services. Whether you’ve experienced unimaginable loss, you’ve become a caregiver, or you're navigating illness- you might feel like you don't recognize yourself anymore. You may feel numb, disconnected, and overwhelmed. You may feel like you've tried everything and still wake with the same heaviness. If this sounds familiar that's often the weight of unprocessed emotions, guilt, trauma, or just the disorienting fog of a life that’s no longer what it was. I specialize in supporting individuals who are navigating complex grief, trauma, and identity shifts through profound loss.

Updated Sep 2026 - Are you struggling with stress, anxiety, people-pleasing and emotion regulation? Do you feel like you’re not quite good enough, you can never reach your goals, or you just can’t seem to do “life” right? Maybe you experienced trauma from growing up in a household with emotionally immature parents. Maybe you have late-diagnosed (or undiagnosed) ADHD, and chronic feelings of being “defective” loom over you constantly. You need a therapist who will help you actually PROCESS what's going on, not just listen. You need somebody who can hold you accountable to making real change in your life, and call you on your shit

Clients with trauma and neurodivergence often struggle with overwhelming emotions, difficulty regulating their responses, and heightened sensitivity to stress. They may experience intrusive memories, flashbacks, or anxiety, making it hard to focus or maintain relationships. Life feels chaotic, with routines and social interactions often overwhelming or exhausting. They might feel misunderstood, isolated, or inadequate. Day to day life is disrupted by racing thoughts or emotional discomfort, leaving them exhausted, anxious, and unsure how to break the cycle.

Your mind doesn’t switch off. You overthink decisions. There’s constant pressure to stay sharp, perform, and keep things together. From the outside, things look fine. Internally, it feels tense, restless, and hard to fully relax. Most of the men I work with are used to pushing through, but over time, that turns into anxiety, irritability, mental fatigue, and disconnection. I help you understand what’s driving it, including how past experiences have shaped these patterns, then we work on changing how you respond so you can feel more in control and less caught in it.
