About Me:  Since practicing I have observed that past events unconsciously continue to shape our reactions to our present situations, Often times coping skills that worked for individuals are no longer working now. In an accepting and safe space we will work collaboratively to understand why that is and work toward relieving that activation to move forward.   I am here to guide a support you, as you begin this journey of processing and understanding the root of your emotional activation in a healthy way through EMDR. I am excited as you begin this journey and I am looking forward to working with you in the near future.

I work with individuals in the second half of life and I especially enjoy working with adults who have, or suspect they have, ADHD. Clients who choose me are often experiencing stress, depression, anxiety, overwhelm, and perhaps relationship issues. They are often looking to heal from past issues, stop dysfunctional patterns, set boundaries, reduce stress, restore a sense of balance, live in alignment with their values, develop useful strategies, and establish a better relationship with themselves.

Hello, I am so happy you’re here! I’m looking to provide therapy to individuals who have traumas they would like to work through, addictions they are looking to overcome, or maybe they just need somebody to talk to! Sometimes it’s hard to open up to the people in our lives, and having a third-party option to discuss life struggles can be beneficial. I’m hoping to talk to my clients who need some direction in becoming the best version of themselves. No matter where you’ve come from, you can always carry the light going forward!

I am well versed in providing counselling services to children, adolescents and adults of all ages. I enjoy working with people who are struggling in the various stages and different aspects of their lives. For adolescents and adults, this could involve understanding and better managing anxiety, depression, grief or unexpected changes. It could also be in a supportive role as clients navigate learning about their new psychiatric diagnosis and how to best manage it. Or it may be working with children teaching them about their emotions, worry and adapting to big changes in their lives. The help I can provide is broad and varies.

Welcome! Life presents with many challenges... work stress, relationship stress, health issues, parenting, caregiving of parents, juggling so many different responsibilities. It can seem overwhelming when trying to manage it all. And sometimes struggles or hurts from the past, can seem to creep into our everyday lives when we would much rather leave those hurts behind. What a relief it would be... to release those worries, to alleviate those stresses, to heal those hurts. They are heavy to carry, and as we try to keep going, they get heavier along the way. What if, you could have help, to change that...

Everyone comes to therapy for different reasons. Sometimes it's a more immediate or situational concern (ie relationship breakdown), while other times therapy is sought out because of a long standing or historical issue (ie mental health diagnosis). What I have learned over my many years of practice is that it takes a tremendous amount of courage to reach out for support. But change is possible. Realizing that you are not alone in your struggles is very powerful. Having a safe and nonjudgmental space to process your concerns and establish a path forward- in a way that is meaningful to you- is what I believe every client deserves.

Beginning or revisiting therapy is a big step, and I applaud you for starting the process of investing in your wellbeing. If you are 16 years or older and are struggling with stress, a life transition, mental health issues, a loss of someone or something, work struggles, relationship problems and/or more, I can offer relief and support. Life can be difficult, and it is beneficial to have someone help you navigate through it. I believe it is also healthy to have a safe outlet to reflect, self-discover, and heal. I would be happy to offer that for you.

How can I find a therapist in Essex?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

How much does therapy cost?

Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
