My approach is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and informed by the latest insights from relational neuroscience.
Healthy relationships can offer security, connection, and acceptance. Yet when communication breaks down and unresolved conflict or mistrust builds, relationships can leave us feeling drained and disconnected. Strengthening your ability to express your deepest needs isn’t just about improving relationships — it's about reclaiming your voice, stepping into your power, and fueling your personal growth. Therapy offers a transformative space where you can deepen self-awareness, develop new skills, and break through barriers standing between you and the life you want to create — both within yourself and in your connection with others.

Those which I draw from allow me to practice in a way that uniquely fits with each individual and family I work with.
Hello and welcome! I am a Psychotherapist/Registered Social Worker with over 20 years of clinical practice with children, teens, adults and families with complex needs. I work with my clients' strengths to build coping skills and resiliency while simultaneously exploring recurring themes stemming from attachment wounds or unmet needs. Having one foot in the present and one in the past helps determine how early relational experiences often continue to impact current challenges and relationships. Feeling comfortable with your therapist is first and foremost, so I offer a free phone consultation to see if we may be a good fit.

You have a dream for your life- create something special, make more money, start a family, live amazing experiences.
Have you heard the saying, "You cannot solve a problem with the same level of thinking that created it"? I believe you can't truly move forward to the next stage of your life until you address the baggage that's keeping you stuck in your current one.

I work through a therapeutic framework of trauma-informed Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Relational Intelligence Therapy (associative therapy), CBT, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
Life can feel overwhelming at times. Uncertainty, unexpected challenges and self-doubt can weigh us down. Carrying such weight can cause us to experience fatigue, worry, sleepless nights, and unwanted behaviours, thoughts and emotions. Imagine what it would be like if some of that weight could be lifted. I offer compassionate care for people with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, grief and trauma. Based on an integrative mix of both person-centred and psychodynamic approaches, I endeavour to inspire compassionate self-understanding with an aim towards inner healing.

Family Therapy Counsellors

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
