I take a client-centred, humanistic approach and use modalities such as dialogue, focused reflection, guided visualization, mindfulness, EFT Tapping, expressive art, and dreamwork.
We all want to be more balanced, more present, and to feel empowered as we move through this world. However, people often experience blockages such as depression and anxiety due to traumas and conscious or unconscious fears about their own worth, inner wisdom, and ability to pursue their own path. My purpose in working with you is to help you find meaning in your pain, heal, feel into your purpose, develop deep self love, find depth in your joy, manifest your highest good, and reflect the sparkling light of who you are back out into the world.

I offer both Art Therapy and Talk Therapy.
In strengthening our capacity for self-compassion we can begin to better understand the origins of challenging feelings such as guilt, shame, anger, regret and sadness. My approach focuses on the practice of self-compassion as the key pathway to psychological flexibility and meaningful change. Through the self-compassion lens, I will walk alongside to help you identify how behaviours, attitudes and beliefs may be negatively impacting your life. I believe that the therapeutic process can be creative and life giving. When self-compassion and acceptance are present we can truly begin the process of change.

I use IFS, somatic, art, and relational approaches.
The overthinking, perfectionism, negative body image, and worries spin like a washing machine in your head. You often feel stuck in your mind, procrastinating, unable to move, listening to all these disagreeing voices. You can outsmart talk therapists just to end up suppressing more of your emotions. Sometimes it's just too much, so you find comforting ways to numb out. You might go on autopilot for days before you even realize. Still, you want to understand your patterns and process your past. You are ready to actually slow down, put in the work to feel present, and develop a stronger relationship with yourself.

Still, life gets in the way of us accessing our wisdom and using techniques such as mindfulness, DBT skills, compassionate inquiry, and art to bring out the playfulness and curiosity within our sessions that allow your wisdom to come through.
We are human beings, but when caught up in our busy lives, we sometimes turn into human doings. It can be challenging to be present when your schedules are full or you get swept off by external and internal forces. I have the honour to work with individuals and families challenged by anxiety, depression, experiences of oppression and marginalization. I support folks who may be misunderstood or troubled by negative thoughts. Everyone has the power to heal from within, and healing may look different for each individual. I am grateful to accompany you on this healing journey. We all have the right to thrive.

I offer virtual 1:1 art therapy, blending therapy with creative expression.
Clients who are most drawn to my work—and who find value in it—are those who feel disconnected from themselves in some way. Some are stuck in patterns they can’t quite name but know aren’t serving them. Others feel overwhelmed by emotions or, conversely, detached from them. Many struggle with self-criticism, uncertainty about their place in the world, or difficulty navigating relationships. What they mostly share is a desire to understand themselves more fully, to feel at home in their own minds and bodies, and to move through life with greater purpose.

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
