Female Therapists in Dundas, ON
I recognize that every person and story is unique. While I enjoy working with people at all stages of life, I have a special focus on supporting youth (10+) & neurodivergent women & girls. Life often brings challenges, transitions, & emotions, resulting in uncertainty or overwhelm. One of my favourite reminders comes from Oscar Wilde: “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken". Further, I understand the importance of feeling valued for who you truly are & I believe authenticity & connection are at the heart of healing. Encouraging clients to embrace their identity while fostering self-compassion & acceptance is central to my work

You’ve been praying for things to get easier, but the stress, overthinking, and
feeling like you’re falling behind just won’t quit. Whether it’s ADHD making
everyday tasks harder, anxiety creeping in, or relationships that feel more
draining than supportive, it’s a lot. You want a therapist who not only offers
you practical tools for support, but also honors your faith, someone who helps
you lean into God’s truth while working through real-life struggles. You might just be looking for a therapist who understands your faith or maybe, you're looking for Christian perspectives to be tied into session. Either way, I'm here to help.

It can be difficult to decide if you want to try therapy. Things can happen that make it hard to cope and live our best lives. Sometimes it’s the events of the past, sometimes it’s our current situation and often it’s a combination of both that leads us to ask for help. Some questions to help you decide could be: Are you happy? Are you healthy? Are you satisfied in your life? Are you feeling like you have a handle on things or relationships? Do you need help? If you would like to talk about how therapy could be helpful to you, please reach out. I offer a free 15 min consultation and I would be happy to talk with you.

Conflicts in relationships are inevitable! These conflicts can be circumstantial or rooted in anxieties from the past and may not look like your typical conflict. Perhaps you find yourself experiencing the same anxious thoughts, a recent infidelity, or maybe you're stuck in the same negative patterns that you can't seem to break. Perhaps you and your partner are struggling with intimacy issues, communication struggles, or difference in love languages and attachment. Interpersonal and internal conflict can leave us feeling stuck, confused, stressed, overwhelmed, or depressed. The good news? It doesn't have to stay this way.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
