Let's talk. I also think that Psychology Today profiles are weird to read. But since you're here - you're likely here because something in your life, or the life of someone you love, might be asking for change. More clarity, more purpose, or a different way of being. Together, we can make space to explore that honestly. I work collaboratively to help you understand your patterns, experiences, and what truly matters to you—so you can move toward a more meaningful and fulfilling life. I have a particular interest in supporting youth and adults in the arts who are working to bring their creative lives into focus.

I've worked for 20 years with survivors of trauma and vicarious trauma - sexual, physical, emotional, mental and or neglect. Often these traumatic injuries appear in life as anxiety, depression, addictions, flashbacks, unhealthy relationships or chronic pain. I attend with safety and empathy to these patterns and habits that appear in belief systems and emotions, and to the important role the body plays in responding to, storing and repairing harm. I specialize in including mindful attention to the body with talk therapy to help clients unlock the painful legacy of trauma.

My clients are usually people in life transition, they feel overwhelmed and want to discuss their issues and get some clarity and help with decision making and coping strategies. They may have a complicated life situation and often medical and mental health problems combined. I can help them to maximize their health during stressful times and focus on goals and direction in the present and future. Personal and family situations, relationships, health and medication management, work and school and grief and isolation. With some support and professional guidance many situations that feel overwhelming and hopeless can be opportunities.

I draw from ACT, IFS, and attachment-based therapy, along with Brainspotting for somatic trauma work that supports both emotional and physical release.
You’re constantly scanning for danger, replaying conversations, overthinking decisions, and trying to quiet a nervous system that feels stuck on high alert. Your chest tightens, your stomach drops, and suddenly you’re spiraling through “what if” after “what if” especially when it comes to your health. You hold it together on the outside, but inside you’re exhausted, wired, and waiting for the next wave of anxiety to hit. You just want calm, clarity, and a break from feeling constantly on edge.

I believe in therapy from a biopsychosocial perspective, recognizing the deep connection between the body, mind, and relationships. I provide a non-judgmental and open space where we can explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, working together to reduce distress and promote meaningful change. I also encourage nature therapy, helping clients reconnect with the outdoors to enhance their se

Are you curious about doing some deeper work to understand who you are? What is your purpose in this cosmos? Maybe you are looking for support for big life changes, challenges or grief? My typical clients experience childhood trauma (attachment, 'mother wounding'), recent and past trauma (sexual assault), relationship problems (infidelity), burn out (stress leave), and midlife crisis/transition. I use evidence based modalities such as AF-EMDR to process trauma, and have extensive training in trauma and stress, and post traumatic growth. I am also integrative of your own spirituality and ecology, and your own supportive practices.

Attachment-based Counsellors
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
