Life can be challenging at times; I am here to help navigate some of those obstacles. I support individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and life changes using a trauma-informed approach. While I have a personal interest in working with women aged 16 and older, I also have experience supporting men and gender-diverse individuals. As a Registered Social Worker with the OCSWSSW, I provide support from a client-centered perspective, walking alongside individuals on their journey to address specific concerns and life challenges using strengths-based and solution-focused approaches.

I specialize in offering evidence-based approaches such as Exposure and Response Prevention, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Living a life where you're dealing with anxiety alongside symptoms of obsessions and compulsions can be quite scary. Navigating these experiences can become less intimidating when we gain an understanding of what we're going through and we have the support to take deliberate steps towards addressing it. There may be instances where those in your life don't fully understand what you are going through, leading you to keep your intrusive thoughts and compulsive urges to yourself. It's important to know that you're not alone, and that these symptoms are more common than you might realize.

You may be carrying a constant sense of worry, sadness, self-doubt, or exhaustion. Perhaps your mind never seems to slow down, you're struggling to find motivation, or you feel emotionally flat and disconnected from yourself, others, or the things that once mattered to you. Living with anxiety or depression can be isolating. Even simple tasks can feel overwhelming, and it can be difficult to explain what you're experiencing to the people around you. You may find yourself caught in patterns of overthinking, self-criticism, avoidance, or feeling trapped by old stories about who you are and what you're capable of.

I bring third-wave cognitive-behavioural therapies and evidence-based approaches such as: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Nature Therapy based interventions.
Hi there! Are you contemplating hiring a therapist? You're probably suffering and wondering who to trust. I get that, and I've been there too. When I look for a therapist, I want to make sure that they believe in their approach, and that there's a strong evidence-basis for it. That's true for my approaches - and they're an integral part of my life now too since finding them. I'm happy to share as we get aware, mindful, self-compassionate, values-connected, and committed to a life that matters.

As a Social Worker with over 20 years of experience, I’ve seen how even the most difficult moments can shift into clarity, peace, and self- acceptance with the right support.
My practice is rooted in mental health and trauma-informed care. I help clients understand the emotional patterns shaping their lives, heal the impact of past experiences, and build the resilience needed to move forward. I also support individuals navigating addictions, especially when these challenges intersect with mental health.

Therapeutic art and somatic processing allow for deeper learning, acceptance and healing.
Many people come to therapy not because everything is falling apart, but because something inside feels tight, muted, or out of reach. You may be functioning well on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of yourself on the inside. My work is Gestalt-informed, body-based, and art-centered, which means we pay attention to what emerges through sensation, emotion, image, and lived experience, not just words. You don’t need to be creative, broken, or in crisis to come. Therapy here is a place to slow down, listen inwardly, and reconnect with what feels real, alive, and true for you. You are not alone.

My approach uses Dialectic Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Acceptance & Committment Therapy.
Art therapy combines the creative process and psychotherapy, facilitating self-exploration and understanding. Using imagery, colour and shape as part of this creative therapeutic process, thoughts and feelings can be expressed that would otherwise be difficult to articulate. No specific artistic talent is required, just let your imagination lead the way.

Do you feel disconnected with yourself or in your relationships? Maybe past experiences have contributed to this. Or you recognize the challenge in our tech-savvy world, to unplug and tune in to yourself and to each other. Our early and ongoing experiences with family, friends, significant other(s), etc impact how we connect and attach; they impact mental health and well-being. We are more likely to thrive when we feel safely and securely connected to another person(s). When our relationships are instead overwhelmed with tension, pain, lack of understanding, etc we often struggle to feel and manage well.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Counsellors
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
