I work with trauma survivors, adolescents and their parents, couples, individual adults and new parents. It is in relationship that we are formed, and it is also in relationship that we can heal and grow. My job is to provide a safe, professional, healing relationship. It is my goal to look beyond symptoms and pathology to help you make contact with your authentic self. I also view my role as a bridge, helping couples and families discover and create a sense of safety and security so that each person in the relationship can thrive.

It is the normal experience of struggle and suffering that brings people to psychotherapy. You may feel that something in your life is not making sense or is not working. That may be a relationship, your reactions to life events, the past wounds of trauma that emerge, or other challenging experiences; it is all okay. Whatever it is that brings you in, I maintain that there is nothing “wrong” with you, that there is just something wrong for you. This perspective can seem completely foreign at first, however, it is the process of therapy that can shift the feeling of being “wrong” to an intuitive, felt sense that you are just right.

People come to counselling for a variety of reasons. I strive to meet people wherever they are on their journey, and help to ignite in them a renewed sense of hope. My goal is to help clients experience a greater sense of connection to both themselves and others. I walk clients through the emotional moments that define their sense of self, and help them reclaim a life of balance and calm. I work with clients at every stage of life, and I counsel those who are working through challenging experiences such as trauma, betrayal, anxiety, depression, anger, low self-esteem, life transitions, and relationship concerns.

I work with clients who are finding their true identity and ready to release any aspect of themselves and their story that no longer serve them. This includes clients that have unresolved experiences from their recent or distant past that would like professional guidance in processing such from a trauma-informed and empathic lens. Clients that are ready for change and able to dedicate their energy to their own healing, in and out of session, with my support. Clients that may feel stuck, low-mood, unmotivated or confused in how to progress in life but are feeling called to evolve into a fulfilled & grateful version of themselves.

People often make sense of their lives through stories. We tell stories about who we are, how we live, and how we fit in our relationships and our world. Sometimes the stories we tell about ourselves, leave us feeling angry, depressed, hopeless, incapable, unworthy or unlovable. Maybe somewhere along the line you've become 'an angry person,' or 'out of control.' Maybe your child lives with an 'Anxiety Gremlin' that feeds off their greatest worries and fears. Learning how and when these stories started, and how they influence our individual struggles, can be a big step in learning how to move forward.

I love working with kids, adolescents, parents, families as well as adults with: symptoms of trauma, depression, anxiety, attachment issues, self harm, suicidal ideation, parent coaching, and children’s stress behaviours (e.g. anger, melt downs/explosive behaviours, fears, shame, guilt, separation anxiety, worries, isolation). I offer a supportive, non-judgemental, non-pathological, and mindful environment. My hope is that you may come to experience internal alignment, equilibrium, connection to emotional wisdom, trust within, presence, and freedom from old patterns.

It's not just you, life HAS gotten harder in the last few years. If you've been powering through, staying strong and carrying on, but now you're barely getting by and you're tired of feeling like you're not really living your life, it might be time for outside support. The benefit of therapy is that it's a time where you get to focus on yourself, to look at your life, and to get an outside perspective on how it could be different. You don't have to just endure, with the right support, you can heal from the past, and move forward towards a better future.

Is something in your life causing suffering? Do you want to feel better but are unsure how or where to start? Are you a first responder? Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, can help you ease psychological distress and develop the skills to maintain healthy relationships. You may enter therapy for support with overwhelming life challenges, feeling scared, confused or lost, adapting to changes in your health, dealing with loss and grief, or for mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. The basis of my work is to help you identify your core challenges and setbacks and discover patterns you can choose to change.

I know how intimidating it can be at first to sit down with a therapist and talk about yourself. I work from the foundation that we are all trying our best to navigate the journey of life with the only strategies we know. Sometimes those ways work well for us, and other times they don’t. It is important that there is no judgment or criticism in our work together. Working with me, we will co-create a space of listening, learning, and growth that serves as the base for our work together. I am passionate about issues surrounding life transitions, anxiety, emotional intelligence, vocation, and unhealthy coping mechanisms.

I am aware of how social and structural systems affect our mood, capacity and self-esteem, in addition to our emotional and physical well-being. My approach is one of deep engagement and inclusion; I acknowledge difference in order to understand the complex challenges of navigating a world that can often be dehumanizing. I work with Individuals who are struggling with anxiety, workplace stress, intrusive thoughts, and grief. If you are a couple challenged with poor communication, lack of trust and co-dependency, I provide strategies to improve relational breakdown and increase relationship satisfaction.

At times life can be overwhelming with stressors from family, work, relationships and personal issues coming up to interfere with our present contentment and peace. Seeking out a therapist to talk with about it can be scary and add to the stress however, it can also help to provide insight and support along with learning healthy coping strategies in order for life to feel more manageable. Sometimes, the goal is not to fix it or change it but to not feel as alone and have an outside neutral person to help offer a space to start to work through things and heal and grow.

Teen Counsellors
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence.
