Whether it's you, or someone close to you, most of us have struggled through difficult times, had bouts of low mood, and experienced loss or trauma in our life.  In this busy fast-paced world, it's not uncommon to put our needs and emotional health aside; this works for a while, until it doesn't! Using strategies from various models of therapy, I work from an inclusive, trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to assist individuals in making effective life change, learning new skills, and healing from past painful life experiences including significant  trauma.

Are you a teenager or young adult who worries a lot about the future? Are you often feeling sad, anxious or irritable seeking perfection in everything? Or could it be that you feel awkward and anxious in social situations where you don’t know the people well?
Do you feel hopeless and/or helpless in changing anything? How about a space for you to just press pause and be able to talk with someone neutral about these concerns and learn practical proven strategies that use the whole mind: the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind?

Everyone said that parenthood would be the most wonderful time. I feel like something is off, why don't I feel wonderful? Why do I feel sad or scared about this new baby? Why do I feel all alone? How come I'm having a hard time conceiving when everyone makes it look so easy? How come I lost my baby and all of my friends and family around me got to have their babies? All of these experiences can feel so isolating and you are looking for support in coping with the heaviness of it all.

Do you feel disconnected with yourself or in your relationships? Maybe past experiences have contributed to this. Or you recognize the challenge in our tech-savvy world, to unplug and tune in to yourself and to each other. Our early and ongoing experiences with family, friends, significant other(s), etc impact how we connect and attach; they impact mental health and well-being. We are more likely to thrive when we feel safely and securely connected to another person(s). When our relationships are instead overwhelmed with tension, pain, lack of understanding, etc we often struggle to feel and manage well.

I understand the courage it takes to reach out for support for yourself or a loved one. I provide services for those 9 and older with challenges relating to neurodiversity. With gentle guidance, support and time, challenges and stressors can provide a better understanding of one's self and use of natural talents. As we co-create a safe and trusting relationship, I will model the empathy, encouragement, and compassion that you deserve for yourself. At any age and stage, new learning can inspire a shift in wellness, coping strategies and healthy habits. My hope is that we can explore, visualize and create meaningful steps forward.

Relationships are central to our well-being. When our relationships are not going well, we can become lonely and isolated, and our mental health suffers. Seeking professional help to look at how we function in our relationships and the impact that they have on us and we on them, can open possibilities for growth. By recognizing the present-day impact of past events, by focusing on our goals for the future, and by changing unhelpful thinking patterns, we can find a path to improved relationships and better mental health.

As humans we want to know we have a purpose, strengths, love and relationships. When these ideas are shaken up it can be challenging to move forward. Working with me as your Therapist can renew your sense of meeting your own needs. Feeling safe, and supported is a fundamental need and if you aren’t feeling that I can help bring that in to your life. You don’t need to know what help you need to visit me; we can find and explore that together.

Hello! My name is Carly and I run a psychotherapy, neurofeedback and general wellness centre called Realign Wellness Centre that services individuals, couples and families. In today’s fast paced and unpredictable world, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and “stuck” in patterns of thinking and behaving that hinder healthy growth and development. It is not unexpected that people are feeling more mentally and physically burnt out and unsure how to move forward to feel more balanced. Neurofeedback supports the brain in developing greater resiliency and flexibility and in general, the mind and body's capacity for healing.

Alicia supports various individuals and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, emotional difficulties, trauma, grief and a variety of other difficulties. Some people seek counselling for one of the above or they seek counselling to talk in a safe and judgment free environment to work through day to day difficulties. I want to support people to flourish in the life they are determined to lead.

Hi, I'm Rhea, a social worker supporting those who yearn to lead a heart-centered life. Many people I serve long to heal, are curious about understanding their emotions, relationships, others & their inner worlds. Together, we break intergenerational wounds and heal from trauma. I believe in your ability to heal, and work from a whole system perspective. Perhaps it's depression, anxiety, birth trauma, professional relationships, parenting, feelings of uncertainty, patterns you can't resolve, childhood wounds or beyond. You desire to feel better, find balance & thrive.

I’m a Registered Psychotherapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor and have over 10 years of experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. I work with adults (18+) who are experiencing stress, anxiety, burnout, and/or experiencing significant life transitions (eg. school to work, work to retirement, new parents, empty nesters, relocation, etc.). Transitions in life can be some of the most challenging times, when our direction, support systems, and needs evolve. While I work with all adults, I do have particular experience supporting post-secondary students, having worked with university students for ten years.

I hold compassion for all you have been through and where you are now. I approach therapy as a collaboration between you and I, where you are respected and honoured and your strengths are highlighted. We work at a safe pace in line with your needs. I recognize how hard it is to be a human in this world and the support required to get through challenging and transitional times, as well as the possibility for resilient growth and recovery. I am an avid lover of music, art and dance, believing that creativity is a part of being alive. I work to integrate this into my practice, along with a spiritual and intuitive sense.

In today's world, it can be hard to live a life that is in line with your values. Stress, burnout, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, and trauma can cloud the path forward to a healthy life where you feel whole and fulfilled. I will help you create your own inner field guide, to understand yourself and your patterns. My goal is to get to the root of your challenges and to access your own inner wisdom that knows, deep down, what direction you need to take.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
