I draw from IFS, EFT, and other evidence-informed approaches to tailor therapy to each person.
My educational background is in psychology and brain disorders management, and so I am appreciative and aware of the diverse range of factors that contribute to stress and to the challenges that individuals face on a day to day basis. I understand the importance of evaluating how each of these factors play a part in clients' presenting problems.

You might be feeling restless or uneasy, like you can’t fully trust your own body or emotions. Maybe your thoughts are racing, or you feel disconnected—from yourself, your body, or the people you care about. Life happens, and sometimes our minds and bodies need time to catch up. Experiences like trauma or unexpected life changes can leave us feeling uncertain, alone, or unsafe in the world. We all carry experiences that shape how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. Healing doesn’t happen overnight, but together, we can create a space where you feel supported, understood, and empowered to reconnect with yourself.

You love each other, but it’s getting harder to stay connected. Maybe you're dealing with resentment that no one talks about, miscommunications that turn into arguments, or silence that feels heavier than words. Add the complexity of chronic illness & it can feel like you're in survival mode. Managing symptoms, appointments, & emotions while your relationship quietly starts to fade into the background. You’re not just navigating daily stress. You’re trying to maintain intimacy, balance caregiving roles, and figure out how to be a partner when one or both of you feel depleted. Maybe you’re grieving the relationship you used to have.

I use relational, emotionally focused, and body-based approaches to help you move beyond just thinking about your feelings and start actually feeling them (this is where healing lives).
I am an attachment-focused therapist working with millennial parents who feel overwhelmed, triggered, or struggle with emotional regulation. I specialize in supporting adults experiencing anxiety, codependency, emotional reactivity, and the impacts of childhood trauma or challenging family relationships, helping them develop new ways of showing up for themselves, in their relationships, and in their parenting.

Many people come to therapy feeling stuck - caught in patterns that don’t seem to shift, or weighed down by anxiety, depression, grief, or a sense of disconnection from themselves. There's a strong desire for relief, along with feelings of uncertainty, exhaustion, and questions about why things feel the way they do. Together, we work toward easing distress while also developing a clearer understanding of your experiences and the story you carry.

APPROACH TO HELPING: Life on this planet can be hard. There are ups and downs; pluses and minuses; stops and starts; joys and sorrows. Flux and flow. We all live within that and, sometimes, we need help managing. The right therapy can help rebuild a foundation solid enough to begin creating a life that feels right, for you, according to your values. A place to safely process, redefine and reframe. A place to learn the tools to rebuild, manage and accept everything that comes your way, using the theories, practices and protocols of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment, Interpersonal and Emotion-Focussed models.

You might look like you’re managing everything on the outside, while internally feeling overwhelmed, tense, emotionally drained, or like you’re holding yourself together just to get through the day. This can show up as feeling caught between different expectations, roles, or responsibilities, and struggling with overthinking, people-pleasing, burnout, emotional shutdown, or feeling disconnected from yourself and your relationships. I work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, family conflict, intergenerational stress, and relationship challenges.

With 20 years in the field and a former columnist with Metroland News and Newmarket Today, I work with adults, couples and families, supporting their mental health. Difficult experiences both past and present can anchor us, keeping us trapped in a space of anxiety, depression, anger and hurt. These emotions can be exhausting and overwhelming. As a therapist, I envision my role as the support to guide you toward making a shift in healing. We do not need to stay in our past, in our traumas and in our pain. We can move forward and thrive; we deserve to do so.

Do you feel worn down by anxious thoughts, stress, low mood, insomnia, or the added challenges that ADHD can bring to daily life? When overwhelm and anxiety take hold, they can shape how you think, feel, and connect with the people who matter most. You deserve a space where your story is heard without judgment, and a plan that supports you in moving toward what truly matters to you. I’m Muhammad, a practicum student at Ermakov Therapy. Before stepping into the therapy room I spent nearly six years in health‑care and pharmaceutical consulting, collaborating with physicians across Toronto for migraine, depression, and ADHD medications

Emotionally Focused Counsellors
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
