Therapy with me is honest, creative, sometimes a little sweary, and always real. I’m not here to fix you. I’m here to walk with you while you learn how to live on purpose. You might be someone who’s been through a lot, maybe a painful relationship with a partner or family member, or maybe you’re at a time in life that left you questioning who you are. You’ve experienced things that have changed you, and you're ready to stop just getting by. You want to understand what keeps you stuck, build trust in yourself again, and feel like you belong. You don’t need to have it all figured out, just a willingness to start.

Therapy can be a space to gently explore the parts of your story that still feel unfinished, painful, or too heavy to hold on your own. You might feel that past experiences still linger while you long to change and heal. Together, we can look beyond the surface to understand the challenges you’re facing, and the story beneath them—how life patterns, relationships, family dynamics, or moments of loss are impacting your well-being. In our work, we notice how these experiences live in your body, mind, and relationships, while creating room for new ways of connecting with yourself and others.

Through art therapy, talk therapy or both, I focus on supporting teens and adults with anxiety, depression, trauma, adhd, stress or self esteem!
Are you feeling stuck, stressed, anxious, hopeless or like no one gets you? Are you stuck in a loop of unhelpful coping habits, worst-case thinking, or trying to move past a recent or past trauma? Maybe you don’t know what you’re going through or can’t find the words to express your struggles. Perhaps you’ve tried talk therapy and you’re finding it’s just not for you. If any of these sound like you, I’d love to help. I’m Kathryn – an art therapist that takes a warm, creative approach to therapy, where humour is always welcome!

Unscripted Therapy isn’t traditional therapy and that’s the point. This is a space rooted in embodiment, reclamation, and a radical rejection of systems that teach us to disconnect, shrink, or perform in order to be accepted. If you’ve spent your life shape-shifting to survive, performing for approval, or disconnecting from your own needs just to keep going, then I need you to know that these adaptions are about surviving. You are not broken. You’ve adapted to a world that often asks us to abandon ourselves.

As someone with ADHD myself, I take an affirming and informed approach to therapy.
Do you struggle with low mood an feelings of not-good-enough? Are there times you really want to do something but still find yourself unable to start? Do you find you are very critical of yourself but find compassion for others? Do you often feel misunderstood? Can it be difficult at times to manage your emotions? Have you felt too much and not enough all at the same time? Couples - are you having trouble connecting? Do you feel like you are playing against each other instead of on the same team? Do you worry about your future together? These are things we can talk about in therapy, even before you experience a crisis.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
