You’re the person everyone leans on, yet hardly anyone stops to ask if you’re okay. You keep showing up, taking care of things, and holding everything together, even when it’s exhausting. Maybe you’ve always been “the responsible one,” the caregiver, or the eldest child who had to grow up faster, especially within a Punjabi or South Asian family. Now, you might feel drained, overwhelmed, or unsure how to slow down without guilt. I work with individuals navigating these roles, helping them understand patterns and make space for themselves.

Hi, I’m Gillian—a registered social worker, certified hypnotherapist, and author. I specialize in working with adults who feel stuck in long-standing emotional or behavioural patterns related to anxiety, trauma, depression, eating disorder, or fear-based responses. Somatic Internal Family Systems, L2 (w Brainspotting, Sensorimotor).
Trauma can profoundly impact your sense of self and belonging. This is especially true when the trauma happened in relationship: abuse or neglect by a parent, spiritual abuse (often in community), or during a difficult transition to becoming a parent, to name a few. I offer trauma therapy that can help you address the deep emotional learnings that come from relational trauma and affect you in the present day, that can leave you feeling disconnected or unsafe, stealing your joy. I work with curiosity, gentleness, and humour to uncover the capacity for healing that is already in you. I offer online therapy to adults across Ontario.

Feeling like life threw you a curveball, and you missed the memo? Maybe anxiety is holding you back, or you're finding it tough to face difficult emotions. Does grief feel heavy, or is shame getting in the way of true connection? It might even feel like the world around you doesn’t quite make sense, or you’re constantly adjusting to fit a mold that wasn’t made for you. Whatever you find yourself working through, I’m glad you’ve found your way here.

You might feel overwhelmed by anxiety, overthinking, or patterns in your relationships that are hard to break. Many of my clients feel stuck in their heads, exhausted, or unsure of themselves, even when things look “fine” on the outside. Some also identify as neurodivergent or highly sensitive. Together, we slow things down, understand what’s underneath these patterns, and build ways of relating to yourself that feel more grounded and supportive.

Not accepting new clients
No longer taking new clients. Often, what gets in the way of having a meaningful, fulfilling life can be unresolved internal barriers that we might not even be aware of. Relational psychotherapy provides a place where we can explore these patterns, beliefs, and narratives, begin to author a new story, foster new awareness, and equip ourselves with a new set of tools. Ultimately, psychotherapy creates a space for the transformation we are yearning for. Using a number of integrative approaches, I help clients move closer to their potential - freeing them from unhelpful narratives and behaviours.

Are you struggling with feeling sad, anxious, angry, ashamed, lonely, or confused? Are you struggling within yourself or in your relationship? Psychotherapy can really help. It helps enormously to have a safe person to be able to feel, express, digest and understand your experience with, including how it was shaped by your early relationships in life. Our early development powerfully shapes how we feel about ourselves and what we expect in our lives and in our relationships. More freedom, connection, and joy is possible. I work with adults, specializing in relationships, self-esteem, body image, parenting, and trauma recovery.

Using CBT, ACT, somatic therapy, and trauma-informed care, I blend evidence-based support with holistic tools including mindfulness, movement awareness, and nutrition education.
Most people in high-pressure careers wait until they're completely running on empty before asking for help. You don't have to wait that long. My ideal clients are high-achieving professionals first responders, corporate professionals, pilots, athletes, and anyone who keeps it all together for everyone else while quietly battling anxiety, depression, burnout, or addiction. Esa voz que dice algo tiene que cambiar that voice is right. You're not broken. You're ready.

I am a graduate of the Ontario Psychotherapy and Counseling College and a Registered Psychotherapist. My ambition is to offer a humanistic approach in a psychodynamic setting, with a focus on a client-centred, relational, and a conversational model, as well as providing a safe space where you, the client, and I can work together to achieve therapeutic goals. As part of a collaborative approach to therapy, I feel this process of working with clients can bring about an understanding of what they have been experiencing, describe particular moments that may have led them to this point, and support a new self-structure.

When working with clients I utilize the following therapy approaches: Somatic Experiencing (intermediate level), Polyvagal Theory, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Pain Reprocessing Therapy, Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy, and Mindful Self-Compassion.
In my practice, I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, chronic pain, and chronic symptoms. I focus on using mind-body approaches to support people in regulating their nervous system, approaching their emotions with a sense of safety, becoming embodied, and living life with passion. Many mental and physical health concerns are due to a dysregulated nervous system, so to heal we need to build a relationship with our nervous system using top-down and bottom-up approaches to self-regulate.

In my experience working in the mental health sector for the last 5 years, therapy is often sought after someone has suffered long enough or until the symptoms become unmanageable. It is my hope that as we continue to de-stigmatize mental health more people can feel comfortable utilizing this valuable service as a preventative measure and not as a last resort. My approach as a therapist is simple: helping others increase awareness and insight into their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I believe through careful introspection and analysis we can reach a level of compassion and acceptance for ourselves and others.

Through a psychodynamic, somatic, and client-centered lens, I offer a compassionate space to explore how early relationships and unconscious patterns live on in the body and mind.
As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) under clinical supervision, I use an integrative approach that combines psychodynamic, person-centered and cognitive-behavioural therapies. My therapeutic approach is also informed by somatic healing, inner child work, and my own experiences with family, self, and relational conflict to inform my practice.

Somatic Counsellors
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
