If you are looking for a queer therapist in the trans community to support you in your gender journey, or navigating burnout in your life, I bring particular expertise to these areas from personal and professional experience.
I spent about 10 years in the highest burnout sectors of social work. From this experience, I have developed a keen trauma-informed perspective, supporting populations navigating systemic barriers and compounded complex mental health. I have also worked with a large breadth of mental health diagnoses, within every category of the DSM, from a client-centered and strengths based framework. With this experience, and practicing therapy modalities that are transferable to various mental health difficulties, I would say that I am a generalist.

I draw from a variety of therapeutic styles, such as parts work/IFS, Narrative, ACT, and DBT, and will tailor my approach to your needs and preferences. These approaches have supported my healing, and I believe can be powerful tools to support your healing as well.

I support women and queer identifying folks who feel stuck in anxiety, self-criticism, people-pleasing, perfectionism, and negative thinking.
Clients often come to me looking for a space where they can show up authentically, feel deeply heard, and work collaboratively toward emotional clarity, self-understanding, and meaningful change. We move at your pace-exploring your goals, strengthening your connection to yourself, and uncovering the tools and practices that support you.

I am also a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and support individuals struggles with their sexuality and/or gender identity as well as minority stress.
My goal is to create a space where you don’t have to perform, explain everything perfectly, or have it all figured out. Therapy with me is collaborative and practical — we’ll explore patterns that keep you stuck while also building tools you can use in daily life. I draw from evidence-based approaches such as CBT, attachment-focused work, and DBT, but I tailor therapy to you, not a one-size-fits-all method. I have significant expertise successfully treating OCD symptoms through Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy. I am also specialized in the treatment of various anxiety disorders and phobias.

◑‿◐ You or your child keep moving through life, but deep down, something still feels missing. For some, it is lying awake with an anxious mind, for others, it is the weight of depression, the sting of trauma, or stress that makes every day harder. You notice anger rising when you least expect it, or habits you wish you could change holding on too tightly. My clients also share that they feel trapped by perfectionism, low self-esteem, or relationships that never feel fulfilling. Therapy can be a place to understand why you feel stuck, reconnect with who you are, and begin building a calmer, stronger, and more confident life.

I offer therapy for a number of different situations, from personal growth, anxiety, depression or grief, to queer specific challenges.
It’s easy these days to get caught up on big goals, there is a lot of pressure to achieve. But when you focus so much on long term targets, your day to day life can start to suffer. While therapy is helpful for achieving goals, it is also great at giving space to the little things that can add real joy into your life, and make the journey more peaceful.

LGBTQ+ Counsellors
Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?
Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialised training, either during their degree programme or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.
Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalisation in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.
How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?
Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.
Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?
While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialised training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
