I work with clients dealing with depression, trauma, anger, or grief, whether it's affecting them individually or within their relationships.
You’ve been carrying a lot—stress, grief, sadness that won’t lift. You get through the day, but inside there’s heaviness, loneliness, and a feeling that you’re just not yourself. Maybe it started after a major loss or life change. Maybe it’s from years of keeping it all together for everyone else. Depression, trauma, and constant emotional strain can leave you feeling shut down and alone. In therapy, we’ll slow down and make sense of what’s happening underneath—so you can find some clarity, connection, and relief in the middle of it all.

Anxiety, Trauma, Attachment injuries, Relationships, Life Transitions, Anger Management, these are the issues I work with most often.
I am somewhat selective with my clients, because I want to ensure that I am working in areas where I have genuine competency. Anxiety, Trauma, Emotional Regulation, Self-Esteem and helping with Relationships are the areas where I spend most of my time and where Clients report the biggest changes. Typically my caseload consists of previous clients who return to therapy to work on something new, or continue after taking a break. However, I have expanded availability and have space for 8-10 new clients. I also fucking love working with people who are hesitant about starting therapy, or who haven't liked their previous therapist.

I particularly find focusing on the following areas rewarding: Anger management and increasing emotional regulation; Anxiety, depression, ADHD/ADD, and family relationships; and engaging in Trauma-informed treatment for young people who have endured trauma and/or abuse.
My name is Tanya and I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the province of Ontario. I work primarily with children, adolescents, and their families to help support them through the transitions and changes that all families encounter - whether it's the start or change of school, changes within the family structure, or changes associated with puberty and development, etc.

For over thirty years I have been helping individuals who have emotional or relationship blocks that may lead to relationship break-up, depression, anxiety, chronic anger, or addiction.
Using an insight- and empowerment-based approach, I help clients develop mindful compassion for self and others. Along the journey, you can make choices about self-defeating behaviours that no longer benefit you or your relationships. A renewed sense of purpose and gratitude await.

Anger Management Counsellors

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
